Honest guys, From just the few preseason games you saw and the play at QB, between the four on the roster right now, are most of you saying you would be willing to have Burnell or O'Conner in front of Clemens ? While I am nowhere near as high on Kellen as I use to be, the thought of Burnell and especially O'Conner backing up Dirty at this point, is nothing short of freighting. It certainly may be a fluke at this point and I can't be sure until I see Kellen get a few reps with the ones, but it sure look like he has out played both backups up to this point. That is not to say that Burnell might not improve with a little more time in the system, yet, even with that, I have to think that his age is against him. Let's face it, if Dirty goes down for any length of time this year, we will be playing for draft picks in two years when the NFL resumes. Yet, if I had to bet monies on it, I would have to say we will win more games (not that it will be many) with Clemens under center then either of the other two guys. I am certainly not against the Jets trading Kellen at some point in the future, but I think letting him go this year will be a huge mistake, that could bite us in the ass down the road. The only way I would even consider doing a trade would be if a team would be willing to offer a #2 pick, which would be too good to turn down and worth the risk.
1. Its O'connell 2. What's freighting 3. Clemens is a free agent after this season so its trade him now or never
No they said we have 3 "specialists" during the discussion in front of the depth chard board. They weren't including those 3 in the other positions.
I love how C Washinton fumbles at the 6, but because he had a big special teams hit that mare Rex go nuts on hard knocks people want him to stay.
After Rex' Press Conference we have a little bit more insight how the final roster will look like (TRich, Conner on the team; also the 4 TEs, Mauga+ Warren should be out of the race) The bolded written names are the 5 spots in jeopardy that Ryan was talking about - in my opionion. Thoughts? Do you agree that the other spots should be locked? here's my prediction: (obviously there will be a replacement for Holmes the first 4 weeks) OFFENSE (26) QB (3): Sanchez, Brunnel, Clemens FB (2): TRich, Conner RB (4): LT, Greene, McKnight, WASHINGTON O-Line (8): Brick, Slauson, Mangold, Moore, Woody, Hunter, Turner, Ducasse TE (4): Keller, Hartsock, Mulligan, Cumberland WR (5): Edwards, Holmes, Cotch, Smith, WOODHEAD contender: Clowney, Jason Davis not very likely: Larry Taylor DEFENSE (24) D-Line (6): Jenks, Pouha, Ellis, DeVito, Ghost, KROUL LB (8): Pace, Thomas, Harris, Scott, Westerman, Taylor, Cummings, LAURY CB (6): Revis, Cro, Wilson, Lowery, Coleman, COLE S (4): Pool, Jimmy, Smith, Ihedigbo contender: Steinkuhler not very likely: Brian Jackson, Corey Reamer, Brasthon Satele + 3 ST-players: Folk, Weatherford, Purdum i also could see a waiver-pick-up coming.
Does anyone have the tech wherewithal to get a clear screen shot of that board? ETA: Ne'er mind. Found one.
We're not going to keep 5 TEs (including Purdum). I'd suspect we cut The Gap and keep a 6th receiver for the first 4 weeks.
Laury is not on the bubble. The guy is a ST superstar. Westhoff probably handpicked him to try and bring back the stellar ST coverage of old he used to have. My guess is its cummings on the bubble with Satele.
I thought he was talking (in the press conference) about keeping those 4 (real) tight ends because they are just good football-players.
Laury is firmly on the bubble. It has been said explicilty on HK + if you look at the board you see all the ILBs behind the starters have a question mark next to it. Including Laury. I'm guessing not all ST have the same schemes and he's not as good here as he was with the Seahawks. He was saying that but everyone on the board thinks Purdum is a TE...
It's possible he wasn't including Purdum, but that move wouldn't make a whole lot of sense unless they're keeping Cumberland on the 53 man for 4 games because they think he'll get picked up if he's waived at the start of the season.
OFFENSE (24 sure) QB (3): Sanchez, Brunell, Clemens FB (2): T-Rich, Conner RB (3): LT, Greene, McKnight, O-Line (8): Ferguson, Slauson, Mangold, Moore, Woody, Hunter, Turner, Ducasse TE (4): Keller, Hartsock, Mulligan, Cumberland WR (4): Edwards, Holmes, Cotch, Smith, --- - Clowney will make the team AT LEAST until Holmes is out, then we'll see. - Woodhead imo makes the team because of his RB/WR/ST versatility + hard work. Might get beaten by C. Washington but it's unlikely. - It's a distinct possibility we bring back Coles after WK 1 or some other vet WR. DEFENSE (20 sure) D-Line (5): Jenks, Pouha, Ellis, DeVito, Ghost, --- OLB (4): Pace, Thomas, Westerman, Taylor ILB (2): Scott, Harris, ---, --- CB (5): Revis, Cro, Wilson, Lowery, Coleman, --- S (4): Pool, Leonhard, Smith, Ihedigbo - Either Kroul or a DL we pick up during final cuts. - None of the ILBs we have as backups has impressed the CS so the final game will be telling. Might pick someone up from final cuts. - Cole has good ST value but who knows, maybe the CS thinks somebody else is more valuable. + 3 ST-players: Folk, Weatherford, Purdum
