Tanner Purdum is listed as a tight end/long snapper. He wears number 46, which is a tight end number. Dustin Keller and Ben Hartsock are the only tight ends guaranteed to make this team. Matthew Mulligan is next in line - he and Cumberland are competing for the same special teams spot. Mulligan should win that battle. Cumberland will probably make the practice squad. Tanner Purdum is the fourth "tight end".
They were counting Purdum as a specialist not a TE, I'm pretty sure they do mean we are keeping Keller, Hartsock, Mulligan, and Cumberland. +Purdum Not positive but it sounded that way in Rex's press conference when talking about the situation.
No he's not. Where is he listed as a TE? http://www.newyorkjets.com/team/roster/Tanner-Purdum/43a731d9-9229-496d-91ea-d39b80b3be76 On the official site he's listed as a LS/nothing and It's probable the the LS number has to coincide with the TE one. Since he has never ever played TE in his life I don't understand why they should count him as a TE.
I realize you're an international fan, but that doesn't mean you can post stupid shit like this. Give me a god damn break, gus.
Jesus H. Christ...have you ever heard of a position switch? Off the top of my head, Josh Cribbs and Julian Edleman are two guys that have made the switch. Jason Peters is another one. If he's #46, that makes him a tight end. I don't care what the team's website has him listed as. He's a tight end.
It must be Mr. E's day of shitting on the foreigners... Whew! Lots of hostility! However, Mr. E is correct, the number doesn't make the position. Have to agree there...
I don't care what you think he is, he has as much of a chance at lining up at TE than he does at CB. Rex was alluding to keeping ALL four TEs - Keller, Hartsock, Mulligan, Cumberland. Listen to his PC, he says he is keeping all of them. If you don't want to listen to that, watch Hard Knocks where they clearly say they are keeping 3 specialists (P, K, LS). Bam.
I never said he was going to line up at tight end. I said he'll be listed as one. I think it's pretty hilarious how most of you clowns think that Tannenbaum and Ryan are going to tell the entire world the organization's secrets. That white board with the projected 53 man roster is a fucking prop. They aren't going to show anyone their cards - get real. Douche.
That's probably what u need. How is it stupid shit when they were talking about Folks post injury form? You have decent knowledge, but that doesn't mean this board should be run the way u want it to. People have their own opinion. And yes, you are right. Tanny is not an idiot to show his hand with that roster projection. Out of the 53 man projected roster we saw, he may change around about 30 positions. As for Purdum, it doesn't matter what he is listed at. He's gonna play LS here. He can be listed as an RB for all I care. I don't know why people are suggesting we'd keep 4 TEs not including Purdum. Thats 3 backups to one position while we are suggesting keeping three backups to FIVE positions (OL).
That video of Nick Folk missing a kick is what I quoted. That video has no part of that argument. Want me to go find a video of Jay Feely missing a kick and post it after I say he sucks? You don't understand what I'm saying, man. I have a feeling that Purdum is one of the FOUR tight ends that Ryan says we're supposedly keeping. Which, in my opinion, means Jeff Cumberland doesn't have a roster spot.
They're not backups. They're here for a different reason. Keller = catch. Hartsock = block. Mulligan = special teams. Purdum = LS. Cumberland = backup.
Feely is a steamy turd.... just because he made a few ST tackles and was better than Nugent....doesn't mean he's the better option that Folk.
