OK, so we had 4 turn overs, crappy execution and the easy out is to blame it on the coordinatior. BS. He is a damn good one. He demonstrated it in the play offs. It was not offensive calling that got is beat. In preaseason, poor judgement by Sanchez. lack of execution by the OL and receivers, and our ability to fumble after the play is the cause. Thre is nothing wrong with Brian's play calling during the season. When you over throw an open reciever by 7 yards for a sure touchdown is not the OC problem. Next case
I'm not a Schottenheimer fan but criticizing him based on a preseason game is borderline r'tard. And when I say borderline, I mean closer to r'tard than non-r'tard.
And lets face it, the pick Mark threw was two things. A nice play by the D. A decent call. He had two other short options wide open, and just chose to go for the end zone. That's something we had not been seeing much of previously. I'm just beginning to hate seeing the two WR's line up left with two backs in the backfield ad nauseum.
Sanchez has been the problem, not Shotty Jr. We will sink or swim with based on QB play this year just like last year. He was great early, we won. HE sucked mid way through the season and we had a losing streak. He was good in the play offs and they won a couple of games. If this team goes back to the playoffs or makes a deep run it will be based on what sanchez does.
So do you watch the offensive line too or just fixated on the QB? Did you happen to watch the Jet/Giant game 13/17, 119 yards, I TD, 1 fluke INT, and a qb rating of 90.1 That was the only game he had some pass protection and played great in the short time he was in.
Every QB that has played in Schotty's system has had a poor TD/INT ratio, even the very conservative Chad Pennington had a lot of INT's (for him) in Schotty's system. There is a decent amount of evidence to suggest that either his system is turnover prone, he's not very good at play calling, or he's not very good at educating his QB's to use the system properly. It's probably some combination of those.
Which is why I was shocked to see so many open Check downs lately. It's one thing he's never really utilized....
Honestly, too many Jets fans suffer from Red Sox Nation syndrome. When we finally win another Super Bowl, half of you will stop following the team as closely because there will be nothing left to complain about.
Comparing Jet fans to Blosux fans? That's a new low. I am a Jet fan, and I have absolutely nothing in common with those turds.
I see some logic in comparing SOME Jet fans to Pink Sox fans but on the other hand, Fuck That don't compare me to those assholes!
It's going to be really funny when the Jets actually run real plays from the playbook, rather than the ultra-simplistic ones they've been running all preseason so far. But whatever, sharpen your pitchforks and set some bales of hay on fire. It's preseason for SOJF too.
You must have missed this. The problem I have is with the lack of adaptation by Schotty. (Which as any one that's watched football for the last 3 decades can tell you, has always been Marty's fatal flaw as well) What I've seen this pre-season gives me a little hope that that may be changing...but the criticism is not without merit.
To be fair, I made that comment based on previous regular seasons, not the preseason. Like I said, making judgments on the OC based on preseason is retarded.
Schottyball is very pass-happy. If you throw more passes you're going to get picked off more. That's just the nature of the beast. Something I noticed during Friday's game that I never saw on tv was Keller. Until the 3Q Sanchez never so much as even looked at him, even though he was often open (my brother was yelling "LOOK AT KELLER!!!") When Sanchez started targeting him in the third, that was the drive that they scored on. They moved the ball much easier down the field. I'm telling you, Schotty is playing cat and mouse with the league right now. He's covering everything up and he's going to unleash the playbook when the season starts.
To be fair to Schotty, people are going to bitch about him no matter how well he does. Let's just wait and see how this Jets offense performs with the full playbook open, then go from there.
I'd like to share your optmism, but it's not like they are playing badly on purpose. You can work on efficiency of production without giving the playbook away. Every team faces the game film analysis problem. Some teams, though, seem to find a way to gear their performance up in the pre-season. Imo it's hard to turn it on and off. I will be quite surprised if the team comes charging out of the box on O on OD.
I hope this is true, but even with simple play calling, I wish we could have seen Sanchez force the ball less and throw a few of those away or run out of bounds. We have a solid defense and a pretty good special teams unit that can get the ball back to the offense if you don't put their backs against the wall with interceptions.
Here's where the Jets have ranked in number of pass attempts since Schotty arrived: 2006: 17th 2007: 23rd 2008: 13th 2009: 32nd That hardly points to someone who is "pass happy" or should lead to a poor INT/TD ratio at face value. Of course he's not running the regular offense, nor should he. Judging him based on preseason is just stupid.
P.S. Here's why Sanchez needs to get bitch slapped... 1st Qtr, 2nd and 2. Sanchez rolls right... Has Wayne F*ng Hunter WIDE OPEN in the flat, and goes 10 yards down the field to Cotchery. HOW DO YOU PASS UP A CHANCE TO SEE WAYNE HUNTER WITH THE BALL IN OPEN SPACE F*** It's preseason, If he catches it, its a first down..and mirth and mayhem.... (you can almost hear Wayne in the film study..See Mark...that's why you're throwing pics...passing up the open man to go downfield like that...)
