I'm not surprised Coles is getting the axe. Clowney, Woodhead, and Larry Taylor all look like they've been working hard to make the team and don't deserve to get bumped for a guy who's clearly on his way out anyway. If he had a legit chance he would've been out there in the games being tested, and he wasn't. I'll miss him though; he was a good Jet.

As long as Coles doesn't end up with the Ravens, this is fine.

We will see Coles back on the team in week 2. They cut him so they wouldn't have to pay his full contract for being on the team for game one, so they can sign him the next week and basically pay him per game, which would be 2-3 games at least...

That's if he doesn't get picked up by another team. Even if he doesn't I have doubts.

I'm not surprised Coles was cut, I am surprised it happened now. I kind of expected them to relase him prior to week one and sign him after week 1 so his contract wasn't guaranteed for the season but cutting him a week early surprised me. I guess they want other WRs tp get more looks in practices and this coming game.

The reason Coles was cut already was because the Jets had to get the roster down to 75 (before tomorrow I believe, might have been today though.) He'll be back in week 2.

Clowney has to get the axe. The guy is awful. I've tried to give him a chance, but he's never anywhere near the ball on STs and he can't get detachment from his coverage on offense. Even against the second-teamers he can't compete. The guy is just bad.

Woodhead is starting to impress me though. I didn't think Little Danny had it in him, but watching him on STs on Friday was an eye-opener. He flies all over the field and actually has a nose for the ball. I was really anti-Woodhead before the last couple of games, but he's really changing my opinion of him lately.

David Clowney is certainly happy about the recent cuts:

I had David Clowney on my twitter before... but the stuff he writes gives me a headache so I had to drop him.

LOL I'm gonna miss his crazy tweets after he gets cut.

Kind of sad about Coles, but that's just nostalgia. He's old and a concussion waiting to happen. If he is brought back once the season starts and paid on a game by game basis, good for the front office for not overpaying for a stop-gap.

I had my #19 Keyshawn all ready for a revival in Week #1. Never did get my Leon jersey and the Revis I bought while hammered last year is so big I can only wear it over ten layers for cold games.

He had also said something along the lines of 'If they didn't give me a contract, I would have signed a 1 day deal to retire as a Jet'. Sounds like he was already retired before he got here. If it's a predetermined deal to re-sign him after week 1, that's nice, but I didn't really expect him to produce after reading that.
