He's a greedy bitch. Just because one CB is paid $16 mil doesn't mean he's worth it. Oh, and Revis has a contract to follow through with, Aso didn't. He has a contract, he's putting himself before them team and it's his second hold out in three years. Oh, and the Jets offered him $12 mil a year, I think he'll do fine by his family @ 12mil or maybe he can come work with me for $12 an hour.

We're all out for ourselves and family but be a man and stick to your word (contract).

Greedy, greedy, greedy. Hence the name Mevi$.

So sick of this shit and this greedy bastard.

Just a guess- Geiger isn't going to be the one to break the news via twitter. So if you want to stop following him, we don't blame you

He's the best cb in the league so he thinks he should be the highest paid cb. I don't see how that's being greedy. And we all know they pay you based on your position in the draft so quit it with this rookie contract nonsense. And Aso wasn't considered the best cb in the league his third year so the circumstances are different. He's not putting himself before the team, he's putting his family before the team. Your team mates don't pay your bills, they don't take care of you or your family, so I don't see anything wrong with it. You can get by in life on $6.50 an hour. Is it greedy of you to want to make $12 an hour?

No, but it's greedy when you want to make $16 million a season.

It's greedy because he's not accepting that the Aso deal was an outlier deal made for a free agent by a stupid, stupid owner. It's greedy because he thinks he's bigger than the team by 1) Demanding more money than is reasonable and needed for other plays, and 2) Holding out instead of coming to training camp like Mangold & others and trying to work something out while supporting his team.

The fucker has already made 15 mil, don't give me this bullshit about taking care of his family. His family is already taken care of and he's been offered fat fucking money. Fuck him

  12. He also has three years left on his deal, and his holdout has given the team a fourth year of control over his rights.

There is more to negotiating and contracts than the value of a player. There is leverage. There are external factors related to that team, and to other teams. If it was solely about the value of a player at that particular time, every contract would be for one year, and after every year, salaries would be renegotiated based on how good a player is at his position. What's to say if the Jets paid Revis $16.2 million per year, he wouldn't hold out the minute some other CB got $16.5 million? He's already held out twice before.

This is about a guy holding out with three years left on his existing contract. You don't think that's different from what another guy got from the Raiders when he reached free agency?

    hell yeah i totally agree.

i'm sick of people with the same tired old speeches in defense of greed. "a man wants to feed his family, who are you to tell him how much, you're a socialist, capitalism, communist, blah blah blah..."

Dude. Guy wants to be paid SIXTEEN MILLION DOLLARS every year. DEMANDS IT. Or he won't play a game. Please don't compare that to wanting to get paid 12 dollars an hour instead of 6. That's a pathetic comparison.

SIXTEEN MILLION DOLLARS. A year. It's insane, it's vanity, it's greed, it's all that. Stop giving me the working man bullshit.

    Amen.

I think he could "take care of his family" for 12 mill this year, plus whatever crazy front-loaded signing bonus there is.

Shit Cro's supporting a national chain of franchise families for 1.7 mil.

The market determines your worth. Simple economics. It's the same for QBs. What do you mean that his family is taken care of? More money will allow him provide more for his family. More money increases their standard of living. Wanting to be paid what you deserve does not mean thinking you are bigger than the team. It would e dumb of him to risk injury and decrease his value. You can tear your ACL in training camp. Are his team mates going to share their pay checks with him? Are the Jets just going to give him money just for the heck of it? If you ask me you're the ones who are selfish. You don't take care of this man or his family but you want this guy to do everything you want him to do just so you can feel good.

  16. Now, now. At least NFL players have a union to help them feed their families...on caviar.

Any analogy of these guys to the working class trying to gain rights against a crooked establishment is ridiculous. Not to make this political, but this is an insult to legitimate unions, whether present or past, and that battle between labor and management.

What bothers me most is that pro athletes have both a union and agents. They collectively bargain, and they have private representation. Isn't that a bit duplicitous?

The market does determine what you're worth, but no team is going to pay 10/160 for Revis. So the market is lower than that.

  18. And the market is set by more than just how good a player is. Asomugha was a free agent when he signed the huge deal with the Raiders. There's a reason no CB since has come close to signing a deal like his. The rest of the league knows it was a market anomaly.

So here you have a guy with three years left on his existing deal, seeking to be paid more than the top CB in the game, who signed a deal that was a market anomaly. I don't know how the Jets could be blamed at all for not caving in to that. Revis has no leverage here.

greed is wanting more than you need. People get by every day on way less than 12 dollars an hour and don't complain or cry about a god damn thing. Look at people in Africa, India, and other third world countries. Matter of fact look at people below the poverty line in this country. All of you posting in this thread have more than you need. Paying hundreds of dollars to watch a football game for nothing when people are starving, don't have clean water, clothes, or basic necessities. There are tons of people who won't work without rightful compensation. GTFOH.
