I'll make it even simpler. There is no way Revis is going to sit for 3 years and there is no way a team is going to give up 2 first rounders for Revis with his contract demands. Neither is a likely scenario, so there's no need to worry about either one of those situations right now.
Yeah, Rogers sports net has the scoop. It would have to be them, slimybannana.com, or the weather man from channel 6 in wilkes barre breaking the news. Certainly not Clayton, King, Schefter, Mort, or any of the dozen reporters whose sole job it is to cover the Jets. Gluttons for punishment people are.
I'm not sure what your beef with Cowlishaw is but I don't know how you can read that and call bullshit on him. He couldn't sound more sincere, and it clearly sounds like a deal is very close but they hit a stumbling block. The guy is a respected journalist, not some unknown internet schmuck like me.
Listen....I was just minding my own business, eating my bowl of fuckin' Cookie Crisp for breakfast....I turned on the TV, and there was the report. And for the record.....the turds I dropped in the toilet are better journalists than Mort/Clayton.
You can't really say that until Saturday. He always said Wednesday or Saturday and if it turns out to happen between now and then you would look foolish.
Well Adam Schefter is trying to track Revis down. He tweeted about trying to find him. There must be a reason for that, so maybe this thing is starting to become reality.
The only reality is Revis will sign sometime between today and a date during the early part of the season. Not a snowball's chance in hell Revis sits this year out, with continued fines and penalties and a lockout looming. That's a potential loss of 2 yrs during his prime. He will never get that time or money back. His agents can "float" him the money, since his money management skills are in question, but 24 months is a long ass time to not be playing football.
Tell Schefter to try camp, isn't that where we was supposed to be on Thursday morning? Seriously, is Schefter that in love with himself that he really thinks he has any chance in the world of ever speaking to Revis before a formal announcement? Any?
No beef with him, he was wrong, and has all but admitted it. The statement that a deal is very close has been contradicted by basically everyone else who has reported on it.
I guess I'm reading his article differently than you are. It sounds to me like his source did have a real tip but the deal just isn't complete yet. Of course with a media black out, no one should have any details on a deal until it's done.
