http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp10/news/story?id=5496580 Greg Camarillo traded to Vikings The Minnesota Vikings acquired Miami Dolphins wide receiver Greg Camarillo in a trade for cornerback Benny Sapp. The trade was confirmed by Camarillo's agent in a text to ESPN.com's Tim Graham and by Sapp's agent in a post to Twitter. "In the NFL, you have to be ready for trades at any time," Camarillo's agent, J.R. Rickert wrote in a text. "This is a great opportunity for Greg to play with one of the best quarterbacks ever." Camarillo was acquired to fill the receiving void created by Sidney Rice's hip surgery that will sideline him until midseason and the migraine problem affecting Percy Harvin. Sapp wasn't present as the Vikings hit the practice field Wednesday morning. His agent, Andy Simms, confirmed on his Twitter account that Sapp had been traded to the Dolphins. The 28-year-old Camarillo caught 105 passes over the past two seasons for the Dolphins. He works effectively out of the slot. Camarillo became a Dolphins fan favorite in December 2007, when his fourth career reception went 64 yards for an overtime touchdown to beat the Baltimore Ravens and avert a 0-16 season. He was Chad Pennington's favorite target during Miami's magical 2008 campaign. Camarillo had 55 receptions for 613 yards and two touchdowns when he suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 12. Sapp started seven regular-season games and both playoff games for the Vikings last season. The Vikings credited him with 55 tackles, three for losses and seven passes defensed. He didn't have any interceptions but forced two fumbles.
yeah...i saw this on twitter. I guess the Phin fans will be jerkin off to Hartline a little harder now.
so their already very bad depth behind Marshall get a little worse. gotta love it. especially since i feel like they are solid at the CB position. decent starters with above average depth, so frankly i am overall very pleased with the dolphins move, i think it makes them worse overall.
Funny, the way the Dolphins see things are exactly the opposite. They feel like they have good depth at the WR position with the camp Partick Turner and Marlon Moore have had. And with the loss of Will Allen, needed some help at nickle back. Also with the addition of a 100 reception receiver now in town, guys like Camarillo wouldn't have seen as many balls coming their way anyway.
ah was not aware that allen was rendered useless this early in his season either way, benny sapp is not likely to be a good nickleback, from what I hear, he has a little drew coleman in him...
Weren't there some Dolphins fans on here telling Jets fans that Camarillo (or was it Hartline) was going to be a beast this year with Marshall playing opposite them? So...I guess this means we'll have a chance this season after all. Thank God for small miracles.
He had arthroscopic surgery on his knee a few weeks ago. Which is a shame because he was thriving in camp under Nolan's system. Had to have been Hartline. Camarillo is a sure handed slot guy, but has no speed. Hartline showed some flashes of brilliance last year, as a rookie.
Its funny how some of you guys are taking statements that only Fins homers would make and present them as if they are somehow the consensus of Fins fans No true Fins fan would ever think we had a great secondary, and no true Fins fan thought Camarillo was a great receiver As far as the move...ehhh...Camarillo wasn't going to see the field much anyway as we rarely go to 4 wr sets and we needed depth at CB with Will Allen possibly going on the PUP and rookie Nolan Carroll is, well, a rookie...Not to mention than Vontae and Sean are still question marks
Two things of note from this trade... Camarillo is one of the, if not the, best pass catcher in the NFL. He doesn't drop balls, ever. Last season, he was the only player in the NFL that caught at least 50 passes with zero drops. I don't like the move for Miami. Lose a good third down and short yardage guy for a 2nd rate corner. If Bess goes down, the fins are fucked. Second, what's this say about Harvin?
I was out at the bar with a bunch of my Phins fan buddies for that game. When he caught that the whole place lost their mind like they won the Lombardi. So I ran to the jukebox and threw on "We are the Champions" and got the whole place to start singin along. Hysterical.
me and my dad always get the sunday ticket every year and usually record all the games ... we had stopped recording them that year about halfway through because ... well ... they were painful at times to watch. The day of the Ravens game, we were going to walmart for some reason (i don't remember what it was because we are almost always in front of the tv come 1:00 pm sunday afternoons) and found the game on satellite radio as it went into OT. Once Camarillo caught the pass and sprinted towards the endzone we jumped around like we had just won the super bowl ... great afternoon
