What I find hilarious about these posts is that we don't know what the figures are. He didn't sign anything yet. He could get a 180mil contract and see less than half of it. Let's just calm down and try to be patient with this beyond bizarre story that has unfolded in the past two days.
dude, that's crazy talk. you'd be better off trying to get a bunch of newborns to stop cryin'. don't get me wrong, i totally agree with ya. its just not how this place rolls man.
10 mil was the last big one before Aso's contract. That would usually dictate anything from 12-14 for the next big contract.
I'm fully aware of how people lose their minds here over nothing. That's why I've studied the fuck away from this whole ordeal and have kept saying he'll be signed before the season. It's sad that common sense and logic cannot be used here, considering those that go the most apeshit have the least understanding of the situation.
You can't blame people for being obsessed about this. I mean, it's a slow summer week, and Darrelle Revis may very well be the most important player on this team. Fans believe that this team is in the best position to win the Super Bowl, so news of Revis coming back is huge.
thats with bonus' and is the last year of a contract... the average is closer to 10.5, as was pointed out to me when I posed the same thought
No, his average was $9 million. Nate Clements is the highest paid non-Nnamdi corner at $10 million on average.
A 20 - 40% increase is probably a little generous as an expected increase to the next big contract. Revis is a unique situation, not really indicative of what's usual.
If Champ Bailey is getting $12 million a year then Revis clearly deserves the $14 million a year that has been rumored.
Woody's actual quote from ESPN: "We've sworn not to talk about it, but I don't know where this stuff is coming from. It's not done until it's done," Johnson said. I don't think he'll sign today either, but this doesn't necessarily say they aren't close.
I agree but I'm a talking about is when people go nuts over the amount he's speculated to receive when as most of know NFL contracts are never what they seem. I've been checking this thread 50 times a day too. So I'm obsessed as well. I just don't find myself going nuts over this yet, when we don't know anything, or if we have news that isn't even true yet.
Not true, Champ is in the last year of his 2nd or 3rd contract.. Revis still hasn't played through 1, so I totally disagree with your logic on this, just give him 14 mil a year... that's BAD business
