IF that is the case I think Tanny caved. That would be devastating to the current cap number (last years) not to mention that it is speculated to go down after the new CBA.
It depends. The guaranteed could be performance only and not injury too. It may be structured so they can dump him in 5 years and that it is cap friendly until then. If the numbers are right we have to wait to see the actual contract to see if the Jets caved or if they just made a contract that allows Revis to like like he didn't. I am guessing it's the latter.
if this article is even remotely true, than that would explain the extreme amounts of guaranteed money he got. Revis refused to accept non- fully guaranteed money previously This must have been the only compromise, give me a shit ton of guarantees and then I will not suck and get fired due to a loss of skill. Hopefully this contract includes clauses about receiving extra 10 million in year 10 of the deal that in order to earn requires a SB victory, plus a DPOY and 4 blocked punts in the same season.
my guess (if the reported numbers are true) then thats the total possible compensation and that Revis will be unlikely to see a good chunk of money. Something similar to Bricks 8 blocked punts in each of the final two years of his deal would earn him another 4 million or something odd like that.
Yes, that seems to be the kind of contracts the Jets are willing to do. Even Mangold's is along those lines.
If true, there better bet some protection for the team from future holdouts. I never want to see this s*** again. Of course, still not holding my breath till I hear it from the horses mouth...
Maybe the Jets know something we don't? We can't speculate on anything until we see the contract and the specifics of it.
Even with the contracts already signed I think they are over the 2009 cap. Nobody knows if the next cap will even be that high, A lot of owners hope it isn't.
Obviously we have no idea about the money but let's be honest, Tanny hasn't negotiated a contract in which the Jets came out the losers so why are we all speculating if these numbers are true that it will hurt the franchise? Like I said maybe the Jets know something we don't. As in maybe the new CBA will not have a cap in exchange for a rookie slot and a few other concessions from the players.
just woke up... as i understand it there is a rumor that: 1. Revis taped a tv interview 2. he was offered 10 yrs 150 mil
If that rumor is true of 10 yrs $150 mil w/ $65 mil guaranteed I will be shocked. I'd sooner let him sit the next 3 years than pay him $65 mil guaranteed, that would make the Aso deal look like an absolutel bargain. There's no way that can be true.
It doesn't really fit Tanny's history. The only way I could see something like that happen is if the first 5/6 years were basically the guaranteed portion and the rest of the contract was fluff.
