With Sidney Rice now missing half the year and Percy Harvin down with migraines the Vikes are desperate for a veteran WR. I live in the midwest and that's been the talk of the day in Viking land. I think the jets should trade L. Coles to the Vikes for some picks. Farve worked with Coles on the jets in 2008 and the Vikes are desperate. I know S. Holmes will miss the first 4, but Brad stone hands Smith and Allison could fill in until then . Always trade when in a position of strength, and the jets could fleece a couple of mid-round picks for a guy they could afford to lose. Just a thought.
Coles is a lot more value to the Jets than anyone else. He's here to provide some stability while Holmes is off smoking pot for a month. When Holmes is back Coles will be waived so fast that they won't get shit for him.
Tom, who the fucks going to give up picks for a guy that won't be on this team in 6 weeks? Nevermind the fact he is a washed up JAG.
Coles looked good to me last week. You need 5-6 yards on first down and it's a snap and a quick fling to him on the sideline. Two steps, fall forward. 6 yards.
This is NOT a crazy idea. Minny is in a tough spot with Harvin and Rice, plus Coles has played with Favre. tell ya what, if Favre likes Coles, and I have no idea of how well they got along, if Favre tells Childress to go get Coles, it would get done. Coles is a spare part. I'd jump on a second rounder, but I doubt he could bring such a high pick. Once Holmes comes back... but the Vikes sure do need a solid WR to pair with Berrian until Rice comes back at mid season.
LOL @ even mentioning second round pick. If we get a conditional 7th round pick that'd be considered a win for us. We picked him up off the scrap heap right before training camp, there was no interest in him whatsoever
There's no way the Vikings would trade a 2nd round pick for Coles. If they were desperate enough maybe they'd part with a 5th rounder and that's really pushing it. We're talkling major desperation there. What the Jets would be looking at there would be a conditional pick. It would either be a 6th rounder or a 7th rounder depending upon what Coles does in Minnesota. Coles does not have much value.
He does have some value because he's a proven veteran and has played in multiple systems. He is probably intelligent enough football-wise to quickly learn his responsibilities in a new offense. Now, specifically with Minnesota he would be fine as he's already worked with Favre. Thing is, he doesn't like Favre or at least that's how I remembered it.
Well, I said getting a high pick was unlikely, and yes, there was little interest in Coles, but the Vikings are in a tough spot. no Harvin, no Rice, and Berrian is as inconsistant a WR as I've seen. Favre did not throw to him often. Favre needs a WR he trusts. Does he trust Coles? He's played with him for a year. Knowing Favre, he is in the MIN FO's ear about getting another WR, one he trusts. If Favre wants Coles, Minny would overpay IMO. With no Harvin and no Rice for 8 games... by the time Rice returns, it might be too late for the Vikings. I don't know if MIN has picks stockpiled for next year or not. If they do, I would not be shocked to get an early second day pick for Coles.
