It's incredible how Don "the darksider" is actually the one with the sunshine explanation :p

he must want to be on hard knocks really bad because, at this point, there would be no other good reason to report in august if he has caved

Never the darksider but also never the homer...seriously I just say what looks obvious with no slant.

There is no image or emoticon that can properly display my amusement regarding this post.

Not to get you guys excited too much, but I know someone who plays for the Jets and apparently at least a couple of players expect him in camp by the end of the week.

    The Text:

Me: "What's the deal with your boy Revis?"

Player: "Dont know. Couple of dudes around the LR say this week though. We'll see."

The Revis bluff, and it's a big one, comes down to whether or not the Jets are willing to lose his play value more than he is willing to not play again.

The Jets can't give him the huge deal and so they likely will not. He appears unwilling to accept less than that and so he continues the holdout. The fact that he's holding out for a record deal makes him largely untradeable except to a team that is also willing to get into the Mexican standoff with him, which nobody is going to do for a cornerback.

Revis could cave just because he wants to avoid the situation above. The art of the bluff includes knowing when to fold 'em.

I think that is overrated with such a young cornerback. We've seen Ty Law at an advanced age for a cornerback come in as a street free agent and start a big game less than a week later.
Revis is a 4th year pro in excellent shape. It's not like he's a 35-year old fat pig 340 lb. defensive tackle.

Now, let's say Cowlishaw is wrong and Revis holds out into the season. If the Jets start off 0-2, panic and then give Revis a new huge deal, would you be okay with Revis starting in Week 3? Or would you want Revis to get in "football shape" and maybe not let him start till Week 5?

that's cool. I have a fishing buddy whose brother works for the Jets.

    The texts:

Me: "Is this Cowlishaw thing a bunch of crap?"

Hornet: "Not sure. A couple players think Revis will be here this week, but my source says no. So we'll see."

Yeah, but it seems to me Ty Law was getting burned on every other play.

More useless conjecture: Cowlishaw just mentioned he's been called "cole slaw" as a nickname "since first grade in New Jersey" Wikipedia says he was born in Dallas, and we know he lives there now, but how long did he live in Jersey? Think he might know somebody local, instead of it necessarily being someone from Dallas that leaked the tip?

Back to the Texas Book Repository, I've got more research to do.
