I honestly think Holmes was a relatively cheap insurance policy. I'm sure Rex saw what happened to our CB's last year, took care of that, and then decided cover our ass from the offensive side as well. Woody has opened the check book for these guys to get whomever they could. This year could be make or break for getting the PSL's sold and establishing a new waiting list. As for the for the receivers, Holmes is the odd man out unless he sets the world on fire. He's the only one with another suspension looming over his head. If Edwards and Holmes want to play for a winner and rings, they'll find a way to make it work for the Jets. Unlike a certain CB that this thread is actually about.
What kind of waiting list can there be? I assume just the upper deck as all the PSL seats would have to be sold by their owners.
I just found myself hating him again. It's easy to overlook a lot when you think he is going to sign and even easier to hate him when you think he is not.
what made you think he was going to sign? the cowlishaw thing? why would that guy know what the hell is going on?
All I want coming out of this, is to NOT be disappointed by the Organization. I'm a JETS fan. If they cave and allow the team to be held hostage by this jackass, it will be just like going into the season with Rick Mirer as a backup.
I don't believe it because it seems ridiculous. If a deal was agreed to, then why a three-day wait? Okay, maybe there would be some sort of tie-in with Hard Knocks, but that is still ridiculous to me. That is a taped show on a premium TV channel. News doesn't get broken on that channel. This will not be the first time somebody connected to ESPN was totally wrong. Heck, just a few weeks ago, ESPN told us Brett Favre was retiring.
jesus i cant wait til wednesday... and if that doesnt work well cant wait til the next day. shit is driving me nuts we need this guy.
I think if you look at his words closely he isn't saying a deal has been reached yet. I think what he is saying is that Revis will report on Wednesday and accept the best deal the Jets have offered.
I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Revis gave his agents a "drop dead" date for signing. Wednesday would make sense given it's a couple of days before the 3rd preseason game. Who would leak that info is beyond me. Obviously Revis' agents wouldn't want anyone to know that.
It could be similar to the Mangold deal. It was rumored yesterday that Mangold was close to a deal, but it hasn't been announced officially by the team yet. It does seem weird, but big contracts may take a few days to finalize.
in other words, cowlishaw is saying revis has given up? he will report wednesday and accept the best deal? still makes little sense to me. why do that on august 25? seems to me september 7 would be better. come back after labor day weekend.
Schefter reported early today that all the Jets are waiting on is for the league to approve the contract before announcing it. Even Rex is saying he will have the best center in the league for the long haul.
Yes, that is what he is saying..that he gave his agents a date and that date is Wednesday. He wants to play and he wants to play for the Jets. I think he feels he needs to play this week's game to be ready.
