In Minaya's defense, the Red Sox couldn't give Ramon Ramirez away fast enough. Wait for NL hitters to get the book on him, the guy sucks. Not to mention the fact that Wilpon could probably use all the cash he can get right now.
With all the issues the Mets have in the pen, I can't imagine getting another arm would have been bad.
What do you think the odds are of Manuel getting fired before next season? I need some reason to have hope in 2011.
100% chance of Manuel getting fired if the Mets don't make the playoffs this season and there is a 99% chance that they don't make the playoffs.
If Omar and Jerry weren't fired after last year's disaster nothing would surprise me at this point. Knowing the way the Wilpon's do business it's certainly possible both will be able to ride out their contracts living in mediocrity.
I see that Omar is hanging his hat on the RA Dicky signing. What's funny is in the NY post he even calls it luck. too bad his "luck" is more of the "Bad" veriety with signings of Perez and castillo
NYM still have a slight chance to make the playoffs, any chance is better then no chance, if you ask me. at 27-11 over the next 38, the Mets do have a chance to capture both the division and the wild card. 34-4 guarantees them a playoff spot. I'm not sure the 34-4 is possible, but a 10 game winning streak could certainly put them in a good spot.
if you're viewing 34-4 as a possibility, then nothing is guaranteed. Other teams could get hot and the Mets would be left out.
oh yeah, I have four tickets to tonight's game and I've having trouble getting rid of the last ticket.
QTF. I wish the fans can fire the Wilpons. Actually we can - stop going to Mets games, buying merchandise, or watching on TV...
Dude hate to remind you that this team has played like .300 ball since mid June. I guess we're due....
In terms of douchebag fans, I think I saw the king in my section tonight. Section 102, field box by the RF foul pole. I got four tickets from donating platelets four times this summer. Anyway, this guy comes to Citi Field wearing a Strasburg jersey and a Yankees cap. That would've meant extra innings.
According to a website that does playoff probability, they had the Mets guaranteed in the playoffs at a 34-4 record. Do I think it's possible? Maybe. Do I think it's likely? Not at all. There is still a shot at the playoffs, though, they are not yet eliminated.
they aren't mathematically eliminated but they aren't a serious contender right now. I don't think this is accurate. It certainly would not guarantee a wild card, so the idea would be that they'd have to win the division. They're 9 back of the Braves with 7 HTH remaining. Even if the Mets won all 7 and lost the four to a team other than the Phillies and Braves, they still would not be guaranteed to catch the Braves if they went 34-4. I don't see how 34-4 can possibly mathematically guarantee a playoff spot. Anyway, after tonight it would be 33-4, if those numbers mean anything.
I mean realistically, I was pretty sure they were going to lose in the 10th despite having such a good chance to win in the 9th because you know...They're the mets.
