One good reason to never root for the Jets: The beat writers/columnists.

Every good one gets about 2-3 years on the beat then moves on to a different team/sport. I'm guessing Manish will be covering the Yankees by the time pitchers and catchers report.

Since he got the story wrong, I'm thinking it was a case of Schefter and ESPN trying to break a story on their favorite guy, Favre, and jumping the gun. The only reason they didn't try to scoop everyone on LeBron James was that they ended up with a one-hour show to promote.

But yes, the NFL Network is great because of the access they have. Why a guy in the business of getting the scoop would leave the NFL to go cover it for someone else is something I've never understood. Has to be money, I'd think.

I'm hoping Cowlishaw is right and I see no motivation for him to leak a false story...I'm sure he has a source, and maybe his source is more in the know and gave the story exclusively to Cowlishaw.

Both sides are in a silent phase so neither will confirm nor deny this to be true.

Only time will tell and of course I along w/ everyone would be thrilled if he signs...

really not much to say here except, "we'll see"

Except if the source is wrong. That's the only catch. Otherwise, I can't see any reason for him to push out a BS story.

Holmes already said, he's planning on being here a while. (His quote was a couple years)...

I don't have time to Junior G.M. this out, but all things being equal, you can probably find enough money for Cro, and Edwards (he does not have a body of work that demands huge dollars)

After that, you'd probably have to franchise or transition tag Holmes.

And actually, the use of either tag could be extended to any one of the aforementioned players.

    You can keep all 3.

A massive prank? If it turned out to be a joke and I wasn't a Jets fan, I would probably think it was the funniest thing ever.

I think ESPN thought he would boost there ratings but surprise, surprise the second he was out of the NFLN his pipelines sealed up tighter then you know what.

On Sheffy part I do not think he realize that all his sources would dry up & he would become just another hack reporter

I am sure that every HC is instructed to give all the news 1st to the NFLN not Sheffy.

I would venture a guess that Sheffy is also being black balled by the owners since he left them & was a big hit on the NFLN

I guess I'm saying his source might just have misinterpreted some comments, etc. I'm not saying anyone intentionally lied. Could just be an honest mistake if its wrong. Maybe they did lie on purpose, I don't know. I think if someone did, there would be a huge green shitstorm.

What if the HBO source set up Cowlishaw so that this buzz would be generated into Wednesday, everyone remaining tight-lipped, massive amounts of viewers for Hard Knocks, and really, nothing has changed in the negotiations this whole time.

The Jets are willing to pay Harris.

Harris' people (much like Mevi$) aren't happy with the structure of the proposal...

Personally, I think Cro,Edwards,Holmes > Mevi$ desire to get out of his rookie deal...

If I was GM for a day, I'd offer those 3 guys 4.5 mil per over 5 (with some assorted bonuses)...on a 24 hours, everybody signs or nobody signs deal.

When they take it, I'd email those two jerkoffs, that Mevi$ can play his way to FA or retire.

Wow. Florio is shooting the messenger with a fucking tank. That pretty much confirms it's true.
