So how is this situation going to shape out? Is laury taylor really going to win the job? What about kyle wilson?

It seems to be down to Larry Taylor and Joe McKnight. With Wilson taking over as a starter, there is virtually no chance of him seeing PR duty unless everyone else goes down with an injury like last season.

i would like to see an elusive quick burst guy back there.
not jim leonhard or brad smith.

I'm pleasantly surpised with what I see from Larry Taylor.

I never liked Leonhard as the return guy, and brad smith is decent on kick returns but lacks the burst (although he has great vision).

I'm hoping Taylor wins the job because he reminds me of a cross between Chad Morton and Leon. He has an extremely strong lower body, is compact, and is able to burst and change direction on a dime...he seems to have all the tools to be a big play returner.

Between WR, the Wildcat, his ST coverage and blocking on KR, I think Smith does enough for this team not to ask him to take over PR.

Taylor and McKnight are good enough options for PR and KR.

Leonhard is the secondary captain, no need to risk him.

do we want to waste a roster spot just for a PR? Or does Taylor return kicks as well?

    I agree with this.

If/When Revis comes back make Wilson the PR... otherwise just go with McKnight.

This unless Taylor is a Hester/Leon kind of talent which I have no idea about...

I think Taylor would have to look real good on both kick and punt returns to make the team.
Otherwise, Brad Smith was very good at KR last year, and we have options with McKnight, Wilson, Leonhard, even Lowery for Punts..

I'm actually surprised we haven't seen Allison on any returns.
Thought that would be his best chance to make the team as well.

Taylor's a good returner, but I don't know if that'll be enough to win him a roster spot. McKnight had a big return in the last game, and if they trust that he won't put the ball on the ground, they probably won't waste a roster spot on a pure return man. Brad Smith isn't my favorite kick returner, but he's fine. And if we need a big return, or he struggles, we still have Wilson, McKnight, and even Cromartie if we're desperate.

If they don't like McKnight's ability out of the backfield enough where they keep one or both of Woodhead and Chauncey, then there's probably no room for Taylor.

If no one stands out as a return threat I don't mind Leonhard being back there receiving the punt. At least you know we'd hold onto the ball.

i'd like to see big jenks return kicks. sure, it'd take him 20 minutes to run the ball back but there ain't no 'gunner' that's bringing him down!!!

My thought right now would be McKnight, of course basing that all on one play. But assuming he makes the team, as biggundewayne63 said, he's not going to see a lot of time at RB and he can obviously do the job as long as he hangs onto the ball. If you have a situation where you don't need a return but want to make sure it isn't fumbled, like late in a game, maybe put Leonhard back in there.

I like Taylors speed and agility, but to me he has always looked one hit away from coughing up the ball

With Lowery and Coleman locking up the nickel and dime spots I guess Revis will have to return the punts.

Revis needs to come back, so we can see Kyle Wilson returning punts.
