Looks like Harris will have to wait till after the labor issues are resolved...to land his payday.

that sucks for him, he may be the one that deserved it the most. cant say enough about a guy that keeps his mouth shut off the field and goes to work and does an excellent job everyday.

He certainly deserves a big pay day, but the fact of the matter is that as long as Bart Scott is playing next to him he's the most replaceable of the Jets big 4. The combination of that and the 30% rule make it a no brainer to deal with his extension last.

I think Tannenbaum would love to get his deal done but the 30% rule makes a new deal for him extremely difficult until they have a new CBA.

He is a good deal better than Scott as a player, he is also younger which is a big plus.

When the whole "Core Four" talk really heated up this offseason I think most people agreed this was the one we had the least to worry about. It may be the last one done but no doubt at all it gets taken care.

The guys a total class act and Rex loves him. Plus if there was even a whiff that it wasn't gonna happen Tanny could've gotten probably a first rounder for him in April. He was "the player to be named" in all the conversations according to Rex.

Yes, but Scott is the person who frees up Harris to make plays.

Harris is an outstanding player, but if you put a replacement level MLB next to Bart Scott and behind Kris Jenkins the drop off wouldn't be that devastating. Certainly not as steep as it would be if you replaced Revis, Ferguson or Mangold with a lesser player at their respective positions.

Disagree completely with that one. How does Scott free Harris up? It's the NT and DL that does that for the LB's (hence why Vilma didn't cut it in the 3-4). I agree though that he is isn't as important as the other 3 but there is no way he should walk. The fact that every team wanted him in any trade this offseason says enough for me.

We've heard this before, except the last time we heard it, it said Mangold and Harris would have to wait until next season. Now Mangold is close to a new deal.

Harris will probably be signed by the end of the season.

Scott's role as the "thumper" in Rex's defense is to pick up the other OLine or FB and let Harris move more freely.

Harris having to wait on a new deal makes no sense to me. What's he done to deserve so little respect?

It's doubtful. His base contract is too low to create a new contract and stay within the 30% parameters.

Bart Scott plays the Ted Linebacker role in Rex's 3-4. He's Harris' lead blocker. Bart Scott is the fucking man.

It's not a matter of disrespect, it's the uncertainity of the CBA and all that going into next season, he knows that, Mangold knows that, Brick knows that. They will all be taken care of it's just a matter of time. The only one who doesn't seem to get it is Revis.

Well, sure. But I didnt read anything in there that would make offering Harris at least a one-year deal with modest money, impossible. The bonus exception could be used for him, it obviously wouldnt impact the cap, and it would give the man something closer to what he's actually worth to hold him over until the offseason when they do something long term.
