My original question remains unanswered by anyone who thinks that this is a Hard Knocks setup. What's in it for the Jets?

What's this clutter bullshit excuse, everyone was looking to see if it would become the biggest thread and now that's out the window. Might as well go and disband the PSL thread while you're at it - "ooo it's too cluttered we must clean up now, tidy tidy!!"

According to his avatar, he just found about our Super Bowl win. Cut him some slack.

I don't get the Hard Knocks conspiracy BS. This has nothing to do with timing it for a TV show. Revis and co. would have nothing to gain from it, Rex can't keep a secret, and HBO doesn't give a crap about ratings...at this point nobody new is paying for HBO for the last three episodes (which by the way are all available on HBO.com for free).

And another point that everyone seems to miss about Hard Knocks - relating to this, the Cromartie thing, and all the comparisons to "Jersy Shore" - yeah, the show may be produced by HBO, but all creative control is with NFL Films, which probably has as much credibility for authenticity as National Geographic.

The deal will get done when it gets done regardless of who's filming it.

Careful, your post is going to get deleted. Some clever mod has been doing it all morning.

What's intriguing about this development is the fact that no other reporter has been able to corroborate Cowlishaw's story. However, when folks like Mort, King, and Schefter all come out in support of Cowlishaw you have to take it serious. I suppose it is possible that Cowlishaw's sources are from the Revis camp and that's why the other reporters haven't been able to verify the story through their league or team sources. Either way should be an interesting few days to see how this develops.

First, I am not saying the timing of the deal will be dictated by the HK episode. What I am saying is that IF a deal is in place, then the Jets, HBO and Revis & Co. would use the opportunity to announce/confirm it via HBO.

That doesn't mean it won't leak BUT one thing is for sure, once the Jets and Revis declared a media black-out, not one thing about the Jets has been written on the status of negotiations. Why? Because nothing has gotten out and for the most part the Jets journalists ala Steve Serby, Mark C., Rich Cimini, Gary Myers, et al, are a bunch of untalented hacks.

As for whats in it for the Jets?

-It creates more buzz about the team.
-It helps them control the story about the negotiations via HKs vice letting the media dictate what happened.
-IF Revis is signed, it will be spun as a positive thing for Revis, the Jets and the fans. That makes the Jets look good for FAs and the players and helps with PSL sales.
-Perhaps it will lead to a Mike Francesca coronary (j/k of course, well only slightly...) when he hears that the Jets not only signed Revis but announced it on HK.

I'm sure they do, but is anybody going to start tuning in to this show now just because they heard a rumor that Revis might sign? I don't see it. Jets fans and other football fans are already watching.

The answer is my original post off his Twitter account. If U have Twitter just search his name & his account will pop up & there it was. He says 2 or 3 different times. If he is correct ALL the NY beat reporters are certainly asleep at the switch & really have no inside connections with the FO

What I mean by that is if their viewership jumps for one show they don't get to jack up ad rates...because there are none. And if you really think they need Revis to sign this episode (as opposed to if he signs on Thursday and it ends up on HK anyway the next week) in order to hype this show anymore than it's already been hyped for six months, then by all means keep up the conspiracy theories...

I think we already have enough buzz, more buzz won't help us play any better.

Maybe someone on set picked up something not filmed, but recorded - via LAV mic. Anyone on set can be bought for information, regardless of confidentiality agreements.
A PA who works 15 hours a day/7 days for what amounts to 10 dollars an hour would take a bonus any day of the week.
Editors, cameramen and sound utility guys are suspects too - well above and beyond any executive at HBO's potential guilt.

The only thing is, it would have to be someone who has been on set for the past 2+ seasons. Cowlishaw said it's someone he's used before, who has never been wrong before. It can't be some random PA who just started in on Hard Knocks.
