The guy is eating $21 million for his play...I think everyone who is negative against Ghost has a valid point and should not be disagreed with.

Being a waste of money is an understatement thus far.

i'm not trashing anybody....i just think it's a tad early for the parade.

But then again.....you've shown us your "eye for talent" when you thru Sanchez under the bus in favor of Clemens last season.....so I guess, we can take your ramblings with a grain of salt.

don't tell Abdul that.....you'll ruin his circle jerk with Kellen Clemens, Vernon Gholston, and the Tooth Fairy.

    Sigh...

Once again, he was solid against first teamers last night too. Scik and Mack and I were talking about it during the first half, about how impressed we were.

There's no parade, but I too am annoyed to see people shitting on him today. The guy's like a vet who had his legs blown off and started finally walking on prosthetics last night. People are pissed he's not running marathons. He was overrated and overdrafted and some of us are just glad to see him finally doing something other than shitting the bed.

    lol!

i'm not knocking him....I'm reserving judgement till the regular season. If this was a sign for celebration.....we'd all be rocking Clowney jerseys.

I'm taking the "wait and see" approach with him.......even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.

Let's see if VG can do this on a consistent basis in the regular season.....against starting offenses.

Personally....i hope he does......but let's not crown the guy yet.

It was good to see the Ghost finally make some plays. Maybe there is hope for him. Maybe he just doesn't have the Wunderlik to play OLB.

As for all the name calling in this thread, typical TGG. Too bad.

Well...I will say this....the Jets are certainly putting Gholston in a position to succeed....he just needs to go out there and grab the bull by the horns.

Jets' DE Vernon Gholston has already been tested by opponents, coaches -- and he's passing - Jenny Vrentas

The only problem I have with many of the posts about Gholston are the references to his draft spot. That is on the scouts and coaches who drafted him there.

Of course any player wants to be drafted as high as possible but just because most teams and analysts overrated him pre-draft is not his fault.

Of course his terrible play previous to this year is on him but I tend to look it as him having nowhere to go but up. He is going to need to have a very good year to get the past out of many minds and hopefully he does but I will reserve judgment at this time.

    that's a fair point.

And like i said in my previous post....the Jets are doing what they can to put him in a position to succeed....Vernon just needs to go out there and perform to his abilities.

I will be taking the same approach as you are, Waterboy.....the "wait and see" approach.

Problem is, I think there are now people who will always be sharpening knives, waiting and hoping that he screws up, bit like the Chad situation, except you can argue that Gholstons NOT broken, as Chad was.

I understand the 'wait and see' approach, But I'm going with every game as it comes approach, as I would with every other player.

This is now year 3.......he HAS to show some kind of Return on Investment this season.

Based on the reports coming out TC and his performance against the Panthers.....Gholston may just be on the cusp of turning the corner.....

But i'm skeptical....because we heard this shit last year too.

I want to see him be "serviceable" in a regular season game. Not serviceable like "just showing up to the field and sitting on the bench".....I want to see some meaningful contributions in a game situation.

Now the CS are saying hes playing his natural position, well if he failed so miserably in his first season, whys it taken so long for anyone to move him to his 'best' position?
This is pro football with a million different camera angles and the best of the best equipment and coaches, yet no one until now thought about moving him.

All's I'm saying is, Gholston has had a "great" camps the last 2 years, and he's had decent/good pre-season games where he's rushed or gotten hits on the QB's and even had a sack that was called back (due to his stupidity)...and yet...here we are...

Yeah, I am an unabashed Gholston HATER, but I'll give him credit for any fucking thing at this point, so it's about time he's getting dirty!
