http://twitter.com/NickSpano This is from a Jets fans perspective. Alot of News reporters respond to this guy, and this is his take from the entire situation. Of course he is just like most of us, but he brings up some points.
Here is what Mort, and Peter King said about Tim C. Peter King retweets what he says, and agrees by saying 'ditto' Peter King
Maybe we could get Cowlishaw's wife to post here and see what she knows. http://www.facebook.com/lori.cowlishaw
TheJetsStream hahah. Brady is so pissed about his contract situation..somebody probably asked if he watches hard knocks, and flipped.
Mort, and Peter King whom are very much more respected in the Sports writing world than Tim is, and they are backing him 100%
MB you must stop posting. I woke up this morning to read the 6 pages i missed from 10 pm until now, and I must have popped morning wood about 15 times just passing by your avatar. She is smoking
Here's the call if you wanna hear it. Starts talkin Hard knocks at @ 13 minute mark. http://audio.weei.com/m/33740857/tom-brady-patriots-qb.htm Fuck you pretty boy.
My guess is that instead of breaking the news on ESPN or Twitter, Revis, the Jets and HBO are gonna break it when Hard Knocks airs. Think about it - that is where reality tv is going these days and Hard Knocks isn't really football, it is "Jersey Shore" except it is about the Jets. The buzz created by breaking the story - heck even filming Revis signing the contract - on Hard Knocks is HUGE. This is business, plain and simple. The Jets are selling a product and are creating a buzz about their product. At the end of the day they still need to sell PSLs and tickets. The fact of the matter is that alot of people are criticising the Jets, but what we have seen over the past year to year and half is a team that is really leveraging its ability to create a buzz and manage the media. Sure you do that and paint a big bulls-eye on your back, but in reality if you are a good team you do have a bulls-eye on your back. I don't real mind it because for the past 40 years this team has not shown a commitment to winning a championship. As we all know, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results. Well at least this time the Jets are trying to make moves designed for the long-term and win a championship while creating a buzz. That is a heck of alot better than sitting back and doing a whole lot of nothing for 40 years.
There's no way they would be able to keep something like that a secret. If Tim got word of it, you better believe more people will tweet about it by Wednesday.
Even though Cowlishaw works in part for ESPN, they're still making no mention. Cimini, however, is obviously setting things up in case the rumor is true: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/ Now if Revis signs, he can say he 'called it' in his own way as a product of the Mangold deal.
Yes he is. He's had a decades long career covering the Cowboys beat, one of the more high profile and challenging gigs in sportswriting, and he's done been a true professional through and through. It's not easy to spend such a long time covering guys like Jerry Jones, Michael Irvin, and T.O. and come out of it smelling like roses. That's not to say that his report is definitely accurate; just that this isn't a "Chris Broussard knows a guy who knows a guy who says that Lebron is definitely going to Chicago" type of situation. If he's sticking with his report, then he has good reason to believe it's true.
Revis and Jets announce new deal, probably Wednesday. You heard it here first. "Inside information!" This is off his Twitter account
Obviously you are correct. But the fact is that even if it is leaked, provided all sides don't confirm it until the HK's episode still makes it pretty compelling. I am not saying there is any global conspiracy here where the Jets and Revis made a conscious decision to let this drag out. That being said, now that it has you can bet they are gonna make lemonade out of lemons. You watch, once Revis signs - this episode or next - there will be a huge positive story on him to portray him in a much better light. They will talk about Leon's injury and the impact it had on Darrelle, his commitment to getting better as a player, taking care of his family, etc. Heck, the BS will be flowing so thick I could write that crap.
I agree. Unless he signs Tuesday night, his ass will be on the practice field before the ink dries from signing the contract. Can't keep it a secret once he's at practice. If this is true, it won't be revealed first on Hard Knocks. If its not, Cowlishaw's Twitter will explode with green hatred.
