The title should be edited to "Mangold close to a new deal"

We still can't really be sure about the Revis thing either way.

Having them both sign in the same week...god, I'd be going off the walls. Especially if the Devils finally end the Kovalchuk saga as well, this week would be one giant drug high without the drugs.

It would be funny if this takes all the attention off the Revis story then they still manage to work out the surprise twist on Hard Knocks :p

That was in '05, but I was definitely at that game. One of my only bigtime college football games. I remember Freddy Keiaho on SDSU had a huge game making like every tackle. Now he's starting on the Colts. Awesome.

As for Mangold, obviously it's good news that we can lock up the best center in the NFL who rarely misses a play.

  4. Mangold is a nasty, nasty player. I think he has a chance to be one of the best centers ever. Would love to see him accomplish that feat as a Jet.

This is awesome news. We need to extend Harris' contract as well before we sign Mevi$. Once three of the 'core four' are signed, giving Mevi$ a little extra will have almost no affect on the other three players contract. It may even motivate Revis to get a deal done knowing that Jets will pay a fair amount and that's it.

Ooh that was priceless. Never seen Big Jenks being man-handled that way. There's one way you can't push over.

From the sound of it, it looks like at least a 6-7 year extension. A 7 year extension puts him to 34 year old by the time his contract expires.

It would be great news to get Mangold signed. One point of this story to be nervous about is where Cimini and Clayton say Tannenbaum moved on to Mangold when he couldn't get anything done with Revis. Does that mean Revis and the Jets aren't talking or are barely talking?

If he can handle Jenkins, he can handle anyone in the league. He has been a class act and a true team player who should be rewarded. Im really pleased with this news!

There will be even more pressure on Revis with this signing. Add in the way Cromartie and Wilson have been playing, I think Revis is gonna be in a tough spot. The money they were going to be paying him can lock up several players and then some.

I tend to agree. You only play with one center. the pecking order probably should have been Mangold, Brick, Revis and Harris from the beginning. Having Mangold and Ferguson signed solidifies the OL for another 7 years.

So we use the 1st and 3rd tender on David Harris (RFA) and instead of franchising mangold, franchise whomever we cant sign out of Holmes/Edwards/Cromartie

    This is a good look

This is the perfect message to send Mevi$ and his agent$. Tanny should tell Revi$ that the Jets will start negotiating again when Mevi$ shows up in camp to honor the contract that has three years left. Sign Harris this week too. Then sit and wait for Mevi$ to cave or sit out the year. I have lost all respect for the man. I couldn't care less how good he is. He is a selfish jerk. Has any other NFL player ever held out for an extended period in his 4th year in the NFL with three years left on his contract?

Good to hear Mangold getting a deal first. He is in camp. Now Harris should be next, then Revis.

But, but, but Revis is a talent for the ages, we are disrespecting him by signing D'Brick and Mangold first!

If the Jets get Mangold and Harris done it'll take all the pressure off of them at this point. The defensive backfield is more than livable and Revis will become a luxury that if the Jets get done makes them better but if they choose to trade him instead they're still ok. Trading Revis before getting Mangold done would have fed the "Jets don't take care of their own" meme, which although false has been put out there by a few interested parties."

It's pretty obvious to me that Neil Schwartz has Florio on Speed dial since the Kendall Scam.....

This whole "Jets Lie" "Jets Promis this and that" "Jets don't take care of their own" crap is pure media fabrication....

I think it's safe to say that's complete speculation by Cimini and Clayton. Unless this dude feeding Cowlishaw is legit, nobody in the media has any idea what's going on with the Revis negotiations due to the media blackout.
