How does not having Revis make us better against the run? Or do you mean because Jenks is back? I agree we still have the chance to be the #1 D in the league due to Ryan's system. But it would really shock me if Revis sits the entire year, pending a potential lockout and missing 2 seasons. If that did happen, he would make a hell of a lot less than he has the chance to make now.

Any other major sport, I would say Revis needs to pipe down and honor his contract. But not football, where a team can cut you and terminate your contract if they no longer need you. Revis needs to get as much money as he can while he can..this is his life, not ours. If the Jets don't like that, they don't have to pay him anything. But spare us the "love of the game" crap. Every player in the middle of a contract has to avoid injury or they're screwed. Revis isn't some kind of huge exception to the rule, but if the Jets let him become one then they'll have to guarantee all of their big name players moving forward. Life is short and then you die. Trying to get a contract that guarantees it's longer and you avoid dying is a pipe dream. Revis is lost in that pipe dream right now.
This entire contract shit is mind boggling. Just give Rell more guaranteed money than Asomugha.. Plus Aso's deal is only 3 years... More guaranteed money, but less in annual salary? Come on.. I know it's easier said than done...
Cap-busting cornerback only works in Al Davis mind at this point. Revis was never going to get anything approaching Asomugha's deal. He still isn't. If the Jets let his agents negotiate with other teams he wouldn't get any offers better than the 10/120 thing the Jets have offered. He might get 30 million guaranteed from somebody though. Not sure who would do it. The Redskins have been burned so badly by the Haynesworth deal that they're unlikely to give another defensive player a huge amount of money upfront. The Seahawks might go for it if Carroll thinks a cornerback is absolutely key, which there is no evidence he does. Anybody else going to spend like a drunken sailor on a marquee name who likely has no wins attached to him?
fuck it. cornerbacks are one of the most unlikely positions to be injured. woody johnson sold so much baby oil. i'm sure he could afford just to get on his knees and suck revis off.

Why are cornerbacks most unlikely to get injured? Because they're rarely around the ball. That's also why they're one of the least valuable pieces when you look at wins and losses.
Look at what they do, and compare it to all other positions. Don't include punters/kickers of course.
We dont need to have this discussion if we are talking about Revis. We already know what he does. Plus he was thrown at 110+ times last year, and only allowed what 35% chance of completion?
They throw their bodies around aswell when tackling, and since they usually play closer to LoS, they get a chance to tackle the RBs too. Maybe they are least likely to get hurt, but the odds of them getting hurt isn't much less than other positions. Take Aaron Glenn for example. It took one hit to end his season. Thats all it takes. You might not even get hit your entire career. You might get hit every game. Injury is more luck based in my opinion.
