Simple answer: He's like the one fat chick in a group of hot friends...his job is to make everyone else feel better no matter how bad a day they're having by being that awful all the time.
If I'm not mistaken, from what I've seen, Coleman is a real good player on special teams. The time he gets at #4/#5 CB is both because the Jets lack depth at that slot on the roster and because he's being rewarded for his performance on special teams. Plus he may be a little below average as a depth corner, but I've seen some players on pretty good teams that are actually worse than Coleman. For instance, off the top of my head, the depth CBs in that divisional playoff game between the Pack and Arizona made Coleman look like Mel Blount. I'd like to see an upgrade over Coleman for sure, but it's not the worst thing in the world to have him back there. He has his fuck-up moments, but he has performed adequately at dime back from time to time, and he gives a great effort. If the coaching staff keeps him, I'm not gonna be up in arms, considering they know way more than I do.
Coleman is a complete waste of a roster spot. I am almost tempted to get his jersey as i know there will only be 2 in the whole of NY/NJ state on gameday!
WSW is right. Though Coleman is getting to Brett Gardner annoyance level to me. Bretty changed my mind, lets see if Drew can too.
Well with Revis not around potentially that would not make sense. But more to the point he is the #4/#5 CB. What do you really expect? Revis, Cro, and Wilson, and you're whining about Coleman? Who is he matched up against if Revis comes back? Course the Jets could just have signed Dunta Robinson for the spot. Would that work?
yea because jimmy clausen stared at the wr for 15 minutes and coleman was playing cover 2 in the flats. congrats.
I like what Buttle said on that one, that was a product of Rex's system, having the guy in the right place at the right time, he didn't give Coleman any credit...
