In an effort to keep the Jets forum from exploding, I figured I'd put this here. Great first half so far for Leon. Just 4 carries for 19 yards and 1 catch for 6 yards so far, but he's running hard, has a TD, and had another solid gain called back for holding. I really hope he can hold up and do well in Seattle.
I think the only hatred I've seen for him came from Mr. E and Cato, and even that may have been just wanting to be right that he was finished. I have, however, seen some people hoping he didn't look good and prove us wrong for getting rid of him. The truth is, it was just an untenable situation and we weren't using him properly for the most part anyway. It sucked, but I'm pulling for him.
Very sad he's not on the team anymore. I do hope he does well though, he was a really good player for this team and made watching our offense tolerable for a couple really terrible years.
I'm happy for leon he is good to go but it's so frustrating watching McKnight struggle and seeing leon ready to go already. I hope McKnight can pick it up but I think my worst fears from draft day are about to come true.
McKnight and Leon are polar opposite players. McKnight runs straight up, Leon squirts through holes and is impossible to be seen. McKnight is very raw and needs to hit holes at 100% which he doesn't do now. Leon and him are way different in their style of play.
Yeah, his 19 yards looked great. Get it all out now as you will never hear his name again once the season starts. That's what happens when you play in Seattle.
"stfu and get over it leon is gone and theres nothing you can do about it stop whining mcknight is a jet and leon isnt"
i happy hes doing well ...... i know some of u wont agree with me but have to say it...... never felt the jets treated him well .... for a few years he was our best player ..... then to not give him a chance to come back ??? and to bring in Mcknight to replace him and the guy come to camp not in shape???? .....hmmmmmm..... im pulling for Leon
He was never our best player. He decided he didn't want to sign the long term extension. He suffered a very serious injury, so of course the Jets decided to hedge their bets and ship him out. Why risk him not being able to contribute very much and then lose him to FA or whatnot and get no compensation? Jets did nothing wrong here.
hmmmm...... i respectlfully disagree with u..... i thought for a few years there he was our best offensive weapon
It will take at least 3 more years of these threads before it ends. I think there are still Pennington threads being started from time to time. Soon you will see a Thomas Jones thread if he manages a 19 yard game too. Oh, wait..Jones had 29 last night. I'm sure there is probably a thread about that somewhere.
Are you retarded? Seriously, are you retarded? It was his first game back from what could have been a career ending injury. Like I said, he LOOKED good, as in I watched him play, not as in "OMG 19 fucking yards! Championship!". It's natural for people to be excited that he demonstrated his same shiftiness and explosiveness against Green Bay's first teamers when there was a chance he'd NEVER be the same back. If you had bothered to read it, I didn't bitch about him being gone, and you won't find a post like that from me. Period. Even on draft day. I simply said it was good to see him able to run last night. Anyone who has been a fan of the Jets or has any sense of humanity would agree, but you come here to bitch about him. Nice.
Hmmm. Looked decent on that run. It is pre-season and even though it's one damn run in a pre-season game it seemed he was a little slower on that run, he didn't hit the hole with that explosion we are use to seeing from Leon. Like I said it is pre-season and you can't judge it just from one run. It was nice seeing him score though. Glad to see he is doing good with that metal rod in his leg.
Good for Leon. I still support the move to get rid of him because even if he played well this year, he wasn't going to have a huge role in the offense. Greene was going to be the bell cow, and LT is a nice compliment to him. Leon is better than McKnight this year. No argument there. Leon's shown more coming off a broken leg than McKnight has all offseason. But he didn't want to sign an extension, so it was probably a one-year thing if Leon did well. Might as well go younger and healthier.
