Here's another: Your Team -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Rashard Mendenhall (Pit - RB) 2. Reggie Wayne (Ind - WR) 3. Cedric Benson (Cin - RB) 4. Tony Romo (Dal - QB) 5. Hines Ward (Pit - WR) 6. Dwayne Bowe (KC - WR) 7. Zach Miller (Oak - TE) 8. Marion Barber (Dal - RB) 9. Johnny Knox (Chi - WR) 10. Carson Palmer (Cin - QB) 11. New Orleans (NO - DEF) 12. Clinton Portis (Was - RB) 13. Steve Slaton (Hou - RB) 14. Jerricho Cotchery (NYJ - WR) 15. Jay Feely (Ari - K)
I'm not sure how I feel about Mendenhall as a 1st round pick, especially in a 10 team league. I have the 11th pick in my big draft so he might be there for my 1st and 2nd pick... can't decide how comfortable I am with him...
I was a little chaky on him too but I picked 9th in that one and Andre Johnson was gone as were all the top RBs. At that point in round 1 it is coming down to guys liek Mendenhall and Steven jackson unless you're OK with picking up Reggie Wayne or Randy Moss in the first round. Or go with a (the) top Qb.
I really think you could end up regretting your decision to take Manning over DeAngelo Williams. You could have gotten Schaub with your next pick or even gotten Manning if he fell a few more spots. #2 RB is clearly your achilles heel, the rest of your team is stacked. Right now # 2 RB
My team by round, I bolded my starters: 1 RB Ray Rice 2 WR Randy Moss 3 RB Clay Mathews 4 QB Matt Shaub 5 TE Vernon Davis 6 RB Chris Wells 7 WR Vincent Jackson 8 WR Santana Moss 9 WR Pierre Garcon 10 QB Kevin Kolb 11 TE Visante Shiancoe 12 D Cowboys 13 D Chargers 14 K Matt Prater 15 K Lawerence Tynes
I think you mean Ryan Mathews, but regardlaess that looks pretty good. I think you might have picked Schaub and Santana a bit high but I didn't see the flow of the draft for Qbs. Why 2 Defences and kickers?
QB Aaron Rodgers, GB QB RB Knowshon Moreno, Den RB RB Cedric Benson, Cin RB RB/WR Ricky Williams, Mia RB WR Andre Johnson, Hou WR WR Chad Ochocinco, Cin WR TE Vernon Davis, SF TE D/ST Jets D/ST, NYJ D/ST K Mason Crosby, GB K BE Hakeem Nicks, NYG WR BE Braylon Edwards, NYJ WR BE Donovan McNabb, Was QB BE Montario Hardesty, Cle RB BE Early Doucet, Ari WR BE Vince Young, Ten QB BE Rashad Jennings, Jac RB
Generally kickers are all about the same and unless you have one of the top 2-3 defenses they are all about the same. not a big deal but you could have gotten the same value on the waiver wire you got with those picks. it's usually better to try to pick up a sleeper or grab one of your top picks backups with those late picks.
You're much better off to use the picks you spent on extra D and K to look for a sleeper RB/TE/WR. There are always guys left very late in the draft who might be in a position battle right now or are rookies, etc. Pick one defence and don't do that until the final 3 rounds unless you want a top 3 defence, in which case maybe grab one in the final 5 roudns. If you see a run on D in a given round, do not jump the gun and get one just because everyone else did, instead, look at the players those other teams didn't draft because they took a D...they probably left someone decent right there for you. And pick your kicker in the last round. If you don't have a backup D or K for the bye week, just wait until that bye comes, then look at the waiver wire to see which D or K has a promising matchup that week. Another way to look at it is this: is it work having a D and K on your bench just sitting there until the 1 week when you use them if you couls have had a WR or RB there that you could haev started numerous times?
This is from a 12 team standard scoring standard positions mock I just did on Yahoo drafting 9th 1. Steven Jackson (StL - RB) 2. Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB) 3. Marques Colston (NO - WR) 4. Antonio Gates (SD - TE) 5. Marion Barber (Dal - RB) 6. Johnny Knox (Chi - WR) 7. Terrell Owens (Cin - WR) 8. C.J. Spiller (Buf - RB) 9. Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG - RB) 10. Eddie Royal (Den - WR) 11. Steve Breaston (Ari - WR) 12. Ben Roethlisberger (Pit - QB) 13. Cincinnati (Cin - DEF) 14. Steve Slaton (Hou - RB) 15. Jay Feely (Ari - K)
Why three QB's (especially with Rodgers as the #1)? And you don't have Jones-Drew so stashing Jennings makes little sense, you could have picked a handcuff for one of your own backs like Scott.
This is why I don't put much stock in these mocks: QB: Rivers RBs: Gore, J. Charles, L. McCoy, D. McCluster, J. Forsett, T. Choice WRs: V. Jackson, S. Holmes, J. Knox, B. Berrian, N. Burleson TE: Gonzo D/ST: Don't care K: Don't care This was a 14 team mock, standard scoring. No way I'd walk out of my drafts with a team like that, especially with two more owners. And Marshall went #1 overall.
