No, I know that. I'm just saying that there is a complete disconnect on what is important. To the Jets it is the total compensation and I think it's clear that to Revis it is guaranteed money. The Jets admit they haven't offered any and won't until they agree on the total. I just don't think they will ever get off this point until they do.

This year they can give any signing bonus they want because of the uncapped year but they can still only give a 30% in base over last year.

I think it's pretty clear that it's important for revis to make 50 cents more than Aso/year. Otherwise they'd be negotiating the all important guaranteed money already.

Rookie contracts stayed the same this year. It's only vet contracts that have all the new rules because of the expiration of the CBA.

I just realized that the one card Revis is holding is the fact that it's an uncapped season, so the Jets would be able to pay him a hefty signing bonus. If he sits an entire season, and a new CBA is reached, we'll have another cap, so his agents won't be able to use that as leverage anymore.

If this gets settled at all I am guessing it will be for about 30 million guaranteed and I have no idea what the number of years will be. Obviously they can give him 20 million a year and gut him in 5 years. The Jets know it. He knows it. We know it. That's why it is the guarantees that are all that matter.

They should just get to that point now and see if the guarantee is something the Jets want to pay or it isn't.

I have to believe that's the sticking point..any extension of his current deal
(which already had 20 mil in gaur. $$$$$) that had a 25 mil SB, would have put his
    take over the Aso deal.

Yep..that's what I have been trying to say..they want a huge signing bonus and the Jets are willong to let him sit out all year...oh and he will still owe us this year if he does.

The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread ($40 million apart)

He'll want more than 30. The top five guaranteed amounts on defense are all well over 30.

My guess is that it ends the week before game one with Tanny giving a little ground so they can feel like they accomplished something. That's ALL they're doing right now is trying to squeeze out as much money as possible.

    10 years 12.5/year with $40 mill guaranteed
That's 25% more than any CB not named Aso and more guaranteed money than asshole.

He's not sitting out 2 prime years in hopes of a trade and ridiculous contract. The Aso deal will be gone by then anyway.

My guess would be more like 10 years at 14m/year with $45m guaranteed ($30 fully guaranteed in a signing bonus).

Tanny would have had him in training camp if he thought he could get them at 12.5m.

Wow..Florio was just on Rome is burning and Revis came up..they were talking about what he would get if the Jets went 1-2 or worse in the first 3 games..like it's a foregone conclusion that he will not be here for week 1.

Yeah, yeah..of course I get it but Rome didn't question it at all...and I also get it that it was Rome or pretty much anybody else that writes for any paper or appears on ESPN..I think I get it more than you or anybody else does.

That would make Floridouche's day... any chance he can stick it to the Jets he will. This is the same guy that last week ripped the Jets for not having Revis in camp but defended the Chargers for not signing Jackson and Co.

Well if Florio thinks he's gonna hold out into the regular season then he'll probably be back by Monday

    That's great news

I don't disagree..I was just surprised that they discussed it so matter-of-factly.
