He'd be perfect for Minnesota. he's been pre-Favred, so the process of waiting out Favre every training camp and then losing the job by default would be no biggie. He might even beat out Tarvaris Jackson for the starting job if Brett Favre's charter goes down as he hotfoots it back to the spotlight at the last minute.

    No he isn't.

Sanchez goes down....Clemens is behind the wheel.

I doubt anyone will offer anything, but you'll only know if you try I guess. I'd rather have him than O'Connell, but I guess Clemens is a bigger salary hit than O'Connell. Maybe that's the deal-sealer. Do we still have to pay his salary if we just cut him? I'm not sure what his contract says.

Unless Brunell is "the wheel", Clemens is the 3rd stringer.

    Jets showcasing Clemens for trade

    August, 18, 2010

    By Tim Graham

ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini reports the New York Jets showcased quarterback Kellen Clemens on Monday night in hopes another team will make them a trade offer.

Although head coach Rex Ryan has installed Mark Brunell as the primary backup for Mark Sanchez, Clemens was the first quarterback off the sideline in the preseason opener against the New York Giants.

Clemens entered at the start of the third quarter and conducted two effective series. Each lasted 11 plays and resulted in field-goal tries. Clemens completed seven of his 10 attempts for 84 yards.

The Jets re-signed Clemens to a one-year deal for $1.76 million in April.

Is that too much for a third-string quarterback? Perhaps, but he would provide some security in case disaster strikes. Brunell will turn 40 next month, and the other alternative, New England Patriots castoff Kevin O'Connell, hasn't performed well in training camp.

I have to admit I laughed. The Oracle provides us with such great entertainment. I look forward to his season ending INT this year with great anticipation.

Actually, considering how godawful I heard Brady Quinn was for Denver last week, and all the talk of the Ravens looking to trade for one of the surplus corners Denver has, you can put two and two together, and there you go, rumor city!

After the way he performed Monday night if we cut him I will be really disappointed. If Sanchez goes down with an injury we'll have Brunell??? That's retarded. I don't mind Brunell mentoring and being a stop-gap backup. But Clemens looked so sharp on Monday night I'm very comfortable having him in our stable.

That was probably the best is has ever looked since being a Jet..but I think he always looked good against scrubs. The problems start when he has to play in the games that count.

Who gives a fuck if we cut Kellen Clemens, or not. We have bigger issues to deal with (Revis)

C'mon man we were getting real far in the Revis thread, and now you are fucking it up.

Given the discrepancy in value between the two positions, I'd think we could convince some dumbass GM to trade our 2nd rate backup QB for a 1st rate backup CB.

If player for player trades actually happened often, I mean...

Who in their right mind is going to give up anything for Clemens? MAYBE division rival would give us a 7th rounder for the sole purpose of gathering information.

    MMMMkay.....

    Tim Graham...that's your source?

    How about watching the game.

Brunell is the 2nd string to assuage his ego, Period.

They'll deal with the PMS if lightning strikes, but Clemens is clearly more fit to take over in the event of emergency prior to week 10.(at least)

Al Davis wouldn't do that deal. "I don't need Climmins. I already got me that Grabcockski fella. Now if they want to talk Clowney, you slide my coffin open and wake me up. That fella is fast!"

    Are you stoned?

Clemens is more important to the team right now, than Revis is.

Any number of guys can cover the corner.

Only a couple know the playbook well enough to play QB.
