    I picked Cakes.

I just think it would be funny to watch him threaten to sell the team 4 times a year when someone criticizes him

The problem is Favre wasn't good most of that year, he had a nice 3-4 game stretch before he tanked it. He was fine that last month, he always needs an excuse when he fails and that was his excuse.

Yes, he was fine, that's why he required surgery in the offseason.

Hey at least one guy knew TG was joking. TG has no access to who voted for whom.

He was fine, he got hurt supposedly much earlier in the year. How come after he plays really well against NE and Ten he all of a sudden sucks? The injury was an excuse, he was still able to make all the throws he was making bad decisions and he sabotaged our season. Thankfully he did as we wouldn't be where we are at w/o him being so bad but let's stop w/ the excuses. He is the iron man, he plays through anything and he doesn't get to use injuries as an excuse b/c of it although he always does.

How do you know when he got injured? This is coming from a guy that will defend Pennington only putting up 3 points in a playoff game because he had a shoulder injury, but it's no excuse for Favre.

Regardless, an injury that requires surgery is not indicative of someone who was "fine".

Wait, so in reality Favre just sucks because of bad decision making and if he has a good game it is because he is lucky?

I hope that its never proved beyond doubt that Favre deliberately tanked the season, that would make me puke.
The outcome was though has made us a better team, so I guess in a perverse way, it worked out well, but I would still feel very uncomfortable if he had tanked.
It certainly looked that way, with hindsight.

Chad was playing w/ a torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder and you could clearly see he was affected AND he didn't make excuses.

Supposedly it waas the Chiefs game when he got hurt, that was a long time before he started sucking against denver.

Favre was able to make all the throws for us that last month, he just made bad decisions.

How did you come to that conclusion from what I wrote?

I don't believe he tanked it I just believe he was terrible although if you saw his inspriing pre game pep talk prior to the week 17 game you could believe he tanked.

I reached that conclusion from the rest of the stuff you wrote in the same post. Let me quote again, "I don't believe he tanked it I just believe he was terrible"

How could he possibly win a game if he is terrible?

IMO it's both their faults. The coaches should have sat him if they knew he needed surgery. Or he should have sat himself. Either way he should not have been playing because he was hurting the team.

That is the main reason we lost 4 of our last 5 against an easy sched to choke away a div title.

He was fine, the injury, while real, was an excuse for his poor play just like sending out photos of his ankle after choking against NO and just like talking about how he's not fully healed now. Once he plays poorly he'll have that excuse in his back pocket.

I agree. That doesn't mean he was "fine" like he is in the world according to nyjunc.

How did the Vikings win 12 games with a terrible QB last year?

He wasn't terrible last year, he was great last year. You realize he played in 2 different years, in 2 different systems w/ 2 different teams, right?

If he played for us like he did for Minny we could have won a SB in 2008.

So Favre was fine in 2008 and fine in 2009 yet one year he 700 more yards than the other on roughly the same number of attempts/completions. Can you explain what the difference was that caused him to be 'terrible' in 2008 and 'great' in 2009?

You make it sound like it's crazy that a player can have one medicore-bad year then follow it up w/ a great year.

I think the major differences from '08 to '09 were:

a)he wanted to play for Minnesota and stick it to GB(remember he was talking to Matt Millen about GB while he should have been preparing for NE in 2008)

b)he was in his old system whereas w/ us he was learning a new system.
