Apparently that's true but it makes no sense. We still take a more significant cap hit then if we keep him next year. We should just cut him now when it doesn't matter. I still think we might but not until final cuts. We wouldn't want him going anywhere else.
I'm conflicted on Gholston. On the one hand, the preseason counts for nothing and I try not to judge players to harshly based on the first preseason game especially. On the other hand, this is just the latest in a long string of games where we've been told that Gholston has improved, and then he's accomplished nothing on the field. My expectations for him are less than zero. As I said in another thread, I wish so badly that there was a way to give Gholston's money to Darrelle Revis. I'm sure that Rex Ryan agrees.
I saw him getting pressure on several occassions. I wasn't impressed, but I'm guessing he did well enough to retain his backup DE role.
Kerry Rhodes with guns. Next up: at Carolina Panthers. Good OL, DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Steward (1,100 yd RB's). I don't see the Ghost getting a wiff of Moore or Clausen.
FYP. He was in the majority of the 4th quarter and was getting pushed around. Hopefully the signature hex I put on him comes to pass.
I know I'm going to get dogged for this, but the Sea Shepherds will finally stop the Japanese whalers this Saturday. Saying pie-in-the-sky shit for no reason is really fun.
if he had done anything last night, people would be saying "it's only preseason" if he played mediocre, they say cut him. lets stfu and wait for the season to start before making any judgements with conviction i was unimpressed as well. but i was also unimpressed with our defense a couple of times. it's preseason, who cares. the dolphins have won 8 straight preseason games. does that mean ANYTHING?
Like many have already said before, I also kept an eye out for how he played last night and was actually pleasantly surprised. No he didn't uproot any trees, but he was trying, and on several occasions drew double teams. If he can do that every time, our LBs are going to have a good time. Still not ready to totally give up on him yet.
I know I'm going to get dogged for this, but I think one day Tony Dungy and Tim Tebow are going to have a committed sexual relationship with one another. That no one -- NO ONE -- will tear asunder.
Gholston was double teamed a few times when I was watching him yesterday. He looks like he's improved, but he still needs a lot of work.
I liked how he got a nice swim move on a DL and ran a straight line towards Sorgi. And of course, all Sorgi had to do was jog 2 feet to his left and Gholston took himself completely out of the play because he tripped on his own two feet because he can't change direction for shit. But give him a straight line and the fucker will run thru a wall or a helmet like he did Carr last year in Prees. Guarantee it.
