Yea, pretty much. It wasn't just Drew Coleman. Three different Jets CBs got destroyed by the same UDFA.

Yup, Revis was at home watching this game and a cash register was going off in his head. Ka-ching!

With the type of Defense Rex plays we need Revis... bad.

What were you guys smoking during the game? I saw the Jets defense absolutely shut down the Giants offense with the exception of a single screen pass that went for 58 yards. You blitz a lot you'll get burned by a screen now and then REVIS or NOT.

When the regulars went off the field then Lowery got burned a couple of times because the rest of the defensive regulars were gone and so was the pressure and cohesion of the defense.

When Cro and Wilson were on the field, the Giants' first team offense could barely complete a pass. I don't know why some of you are getting riled up about our 3rd stringers getting burnt playing a position they will never play during the regular season.

Good posts. I thought even M. Cole played pretty good when given time to play with the 1sts. You have to be happy with the way the D played tonight. One garbage TD off a fluke INT, that took Jacobs 3 plays to get a yard. Excellent defense.

Edit: E. Manning 3/7 for 26 yards minus the 51-yd. dump pass to A. Bradshaw. Pretty frickin' good start, IMO.

You do realize that the 3rd stringers are going to be on the field a lot more in the regular season as we're going to be facing a lot more 3 and 4 WR sets in the regular season and the post season, right?

We got killed in the AFCC by a team that loves to run 3 and 4 WR sets. We'll be facing at least one team in our division twice a season that practically runs a college spread offense.

The Giants stuck with 2 WR sets because most of their WR corps was injured. That's not going to be the case with the regular season, which means we're going to have to watch Drew Coleman, Marquis Cole and Dwight Lowery Trying to cover guys who will be playing in the regular season.

That 51 yard dump to Bradshaw should have never happened. Blatant holding on Ellis that would've been a sack.

Lowery, Coleman, and Cole will be playing in the inside, covering shorter routes. Although I think we'll eventually sign Revis, as of now, our secondary is still one of the better ones in the league. How many teams out there have a guy like Wilson as their 3rd cornerback?

We won the game against the Pats where Edelman had his big day. We'd have won the game against the Colts if we had two corners capable of playing on the day. Even Revis looked shakier than usual because nobody else on the field was having a good day. Peyton Manning will do that to you.

Right now he's our second. You choose who our third is going to be because as things stand we're going to be seeing quite a bit of him and on tonight's showing that scares the crap out of me. Lowery wasn't up against Brady and Welker or Peyton and Wayne, that was Bowar and Cruz making him look like a clown.

They will not be playing on the outside in all of that space in the regular season. The guys they will be playing on will be lined up in the slot where Rex can create help with different coverages. Seeing them get burned while trying to imitate Revis, Cromartie and Wilson doesn't worry me.

Yes, but Eli Manning did not make him look like a clown when he was playing as the nickel with the first team defense. That's what you need to look at. Take most team's nickel backs and put them out wide and they'll have problems. They're at the nickel to manage the short slants and curls, not some guy running up the sideline with them. Even then Lowery did his job on the 64 yard TD, the receiver just did his job even better. That happens sometimes.

Lowery and Coleman have no business playing on the outside, that's just a fact. Lowery should be playing nickel and Coleman should be an extra blitzer cus he can't cover anybody.

Our starting defense wrecked the Giants, that bullshit broken play to Bradshaw never should have happened because there was a missed holding call.

I wasn't online during the game and am not going to bother looking in the game thread, but I'm certain that Shaun Ellis was held on that pass to Bradshaw. I believe he would have sacked Manning if not for the hold.

Seeing them play worries me. Lowery out of position at corner and Coleman period.

We also have no protection against an injury to Cromartie or Wilson. That is not a situation that I'm happy with as a fan.

Yes, Cruz has a nice right arm.

Remember kiddies- it is not cheating if you don't get caught.

Yea, Kareem McKenzie had Ellis' right arm hooked and used it to spin him like a top. Blatant non-call.

I love how worked up we can get about our nickel and dime corners (at worst) in the first game of the preseason.

We had no protection against Sheppard and Strickland getting hurt last year but the D still performed. He had them running a scheme they would never be placed in during a real game. I wish they made the plays but i'm not worried about Lowery when we all know that he is much better playing the nickel or dime spot.

Go back and watch the game when the starters were in. Lowery looked good and Coleman may have even made a play.
