I can't believe this thread is now actually a debate as to whether Revis would come back as the #1 or #3 corner. It may be time to shut it down.
/checks reality. Yep. Pretty much this. EDIT: Does bringing logic to an inherently irrational thread qualify one as a troll? Because if so then we may need to ban Iggy. (JKJKJKJKJKJKJKJKJKJKJKJKJKJKJK)
We are talking about grown men playing football not kindergarten students. I think Wilson has the mental capacity to not only understand why he would be moved back to nickel back, but would also support the move because it makes the team better.
But what if Wilson plays good? We don't want to make him sad! You know it's bad when a smart guy like Bradway is throwing out crazy scenarios like this one.
Who knows? I sure don't. But if he's a starting CB and the Jets are 4-0 odds are he's getting the job done.
it depends. If revis is complete shit when he comes back (if he comes back) and wilson is playing better, than you best believe i start wilson over revis. Past accomplishments dont matter, its what you can do in the present.
But wouldn't you agree that it'd better for him to be going up against the 3rd WRs in most offenses as opposed to the #2 which have a better opportunity to beat a rookie. Players and coaches will figure out a rookie at some point and expose him. The chances of that 3rd WR doing so are much less likely then somebody like Owens, Welker or Bess.
Are people seriously now arguing that we should sit arguably the best defender in the NFL if our rookie CB is playing well?? This thread just gets more and more ridiculous. Having 3 great corners is a huge weapon in a passing league. Wilson would have plenty of opportunity to grow and make an impact as the nickel corner. Not letting our best player do what he does best just because we get off to a good start is asinine.
Of course, and the same would be true if Revis was coming back from an injury. He's not coming back from an injury. If you're Rex Ryan and you have Wilson under contract and Revis not reliably under contract and you believe you can win the super bowl with either one of them on the field who do you put out there? If the Jets are 4-0 do you think Ryan believes they're going to win the super bowl?
Rex Ryan does not deal with contracts. His job is to field the best football team he can with the players available to him. How they become available is irrelevant to him. Revis is the best cornerback in football.
So coming back guaranteed healthy puts him at a disadvantage to coming back from a serious, career-threatening neck/back problem? Revis. Easily. Ryan doesn't deal with contracts, he deals with players on the field. Do you think Rex Ryan ever believes a team he is coaching is not going to win the Super Bowl?
We were 3-1 with a cast of several including Jamal Westermann, Vernon Gholston and Larry Izzo filling in for Pace. Gholston had not distinguished himself at all in the process.
signed x 2. I was laughing about 6 pages ago when ppl were trying to rationalize not having Revis may actually be better for the Jets. There isn't much more to say. I still want Revis back on the team and I still believe he is integral in this defensive scheme. I hate that he is holding out. signing off.
the point he was making remains the same. it wasn't broken but there was never any debate that putting pace in the lineup would be best for the team.
