I have a feeling it'll take a lot more to run Rex out of town than it did Mangenius or Hermy-poo. Go soak in queef waffles Boomer.
Boomer has been a hater ever since he left the team, and he is a home town guy too. Sad, that's why I can't stand his ass, fuck him.
Yep. Whatever personal insights into the game Boomer is otherwise capable of, he lets his emotions get in the way when he talks about the Jets.
I keep hoping Carton would have the stones to ask him about the two picks he threw in the Fake Spike game.
Whenever I listen to Boomer in the morning, he's very complimentary towards the Jets and seems to love Rex Ryan and Sanchez and their potential for this year. Honestly, I don't even think that article is negative toward the Jets. He is really just saying how if they don't perform at an elite level or have a down year or 2 in the future it's going to seem much worse due to the bravado and tough talk that they team does.
I worry about that too. I wouldn't even say 7-9 seasons. He has made the Super Bowl his standard. 1 season with no playoffs, even missing it as a 10-6 team, would cause people to freak out. Plus, he can't talk like he does as a loser so it is an interesting problem.
Does anyone really care if the Giants have more fans? It is so stupid. I can't imagine the gap between fans being as large as Yankee vs Mets or Rangers vs Islanders. The Jets are exciting and so is the coach. I know the popularity in upstate NY has tripled. You go to the store and the Jets items sit in the display windows now. The Giants, Francessa, and now Boomer seem to have an issue with the teams recent headlining success. What I like most about it is most Jets fans, including the Jets coaches and players, don't care. Thats why we are where we are right now.
I didn't hear that and I don't ever hear him on the radio. I live in Cali now. But every time I see him on tv, he is trying to find ways to put us down. He had his shot with the JETS and he fucked up. He just wishes in his heart that he was more like Vincent Testaverde. And he was not. I just don't respect anything that guy says.
This. Considering that Mangini was run out of town after a 9-7 record, and Edwards was run out of town one year after a 10-6 record, to say that Ryan will be run out of town if he isn't successful is just about as praiseworthy as saying that the sun will rise in the east tomorrow. Everyone is getting in their doom and gloom warnings now, because it's a no-lose situation for them. If the Jets fail they get to say "I told you so," and if they succeed no one is going to give a damn about what clowns like Fatcessa and Boomer think anyway (and they'll develop amnesia about the warnings to boot).
So Rex's style wont lead to a bigger blowback from the NY media than Mangini's style? I find it hard to say that the NY media isn't going to love attacking Rex for all the things he will say to pump up his team during a down year. Cimini will have a permanent grin for example.
Mangini is the polar opposite of Ryan, and he was viciously attacked during the collapse down the stretch in 2008 - he was attacked for being too robotic and being hated by the players. It was the same with Coughlin in 2007. Many people in the media spent all of 2005 making fun of Edwards and "playing to win the game." There have always been sportswriters who were out to get a coach or manager; the only difference is now anyone can put every random thought on the internet where it gets noticed. This is the nature of professional sports now, and the Jets are no different from any other team. If the Jets fail Ryan will be attacked and he'll be fired. If he kept his mouth shut and the Jets failed, he would be attacked for that and would be fired.
I'd say the Jets are different in the sense that they live in a market that is much bigger than most(all?) other markets. There are many more media members showing up at their press conferences than for other teams. There is much more attention payed than for other teams. In the end, the numbers of reports and fan sites covering the Jets may not make much of a difference in what happens to Rex but I believe it will create a much larger echo chamber for the public outcry.
Ryan's future - It's not just the bold predictions that the fans see, it's that he took the team to the Champ game in his rookie HC season. He took a rookie Qb into that season. Yeah, there were problems, but that's the point. Ryan met success despite some real obstacles. Like Jenkins going down. He retooled the D, and got results. It's also true I think that Ryan learned some on the job, and is a better HC today than he was this time last year. I think his bold talk does not mean he has no humility, and he recognizes the need to get better. He works hard, and seems effective. Add that all up and I doubt he flounders for any reasons other than the dreaded cascade of injuries, that would take any team down, and the HC can't do much about. Or the FO loses quality players. So, I don't see Ryan failing for reasons the fanbase will blame him for. This is no guarantee of success if injuries and poor personnel moves take their toll, but I think the fans will not blame Ryan for that sort of thing. In short, I don't see Ryan's bold talk coming back to haunt him.
9-23 Boomer two years i'll never get back. blame it all on the coach u want and hide behind kottite, you're still a bust and a boon and a blackmark on this franchise you - here's another b word - B-U-S-T BUST BUST BUST.
Honestly this statement by Boomer is fucking retarded. Basically, What hes saying is that the Jets Wont be the best team in NY for an INFINTE amount of years. Eventually the giants will have a better season. And this will make Jet fans upset. Thanks Boomer "FUCKING OBVIOUS" Esiason.
who cares what boomer thinks? This article is a perfect example of why nobody needs to bother to care much about what boomer thinks. Basically his "point" is that some time in the next 3 to 10 years, Rex could have a falling out with Woody and the fans. Uh, thanks Boomer, we really needed you to tell us that a falling out could occur.... and while you are at it why not say the same thing for Coughlin and every single other coach in the NFL.
