If Braylon has such a messed up hand I'm not sure I want him blocking field goals in practice.

To be fair, Sanchez did seem to be trying to force the ball to him at times. A lot of times.

I'm pretty stoked that Ellard was able to identify the issue. It's just a matter of correcting it now. Just the simple fact of knowing what the issue is will probably ease Edwards' mind.

I agree. Man I am so psyched that Edwards will have a great year, but of course this will depend in large part on his making progress on this issue.

after watching the 1st quarter of the fins preseason game, Marshall may want to grow a beard too haha.

Edwards is really gonna be dangerous i think once holmes returns. Defenses have to respect santonio's big play ability and the deep threat that he is, which should allow Braylon for some big opportunities.

I'd be more worried about Cotchery and Keller if I were the Phins.....who's going to cover them? I dare you to put one of your shitty LB's on Keller in the slot.

The Jets' offense is going to create major matchup problems for defences all over the NFL this season.

I have that same block too.

Granted I play pickup bullshit football, but it has to be over my left shoulder for easy catches. Anything over my right shoulder and I'll drop it.

    interesting.

true enough, we got killed by many tight ends last year and I'd like to think that Gibril Wilson was the issue.

We will see what Chris Clemons and Mike Nolan can do about it. I feel a little better about our linebackers as far as defending the pass than I did last year. Crowder and Dansby are very athletic in that aspect, moreso than Porter and Taylor. It remains to be seen how Wake and Misi play against the pass on a consistent basis.

Anyone remember when Mike Nolan coached here??????

Guy was a disaster IMO.... Brian Cox had to teach him the defense.

I've said this for years... And it has nothing to do with him being in Miami but, Nolan has always been someone I've though of as OVERRATED....

We'll see.... Guy has ben in the right place at the right time his whole life.

Edwards has all the tools to be great. We need him to come up with the big catches this year. If he becomes a consistently dangerous threat, teams are going to be screwed trying to stop our three wideouts.

true enough but in his five years in the league, the main thing he is known for is his INCONSISTENCY.

He kinda reminds me of Chris Chambers from a perfomance aspect. He will drop routine passes that hit him in the hands but will wow you with an outstanding grab. Chambers was (and still is) inconsistent but did put together a single pro bowl season like Edwards. Both have extreme talent but lack for some reason the tools to put it all together all the time.

But this year, Braylon can rely on Santonio to relieve some of the pressure of being the top receiver, which can only help him i imagine.

He's got 4 games to get it right. I think if he isn't playing all that well as of game 5 you'll see his playing time diminish rapidly when Holmes gets back. Cotchery complements either one of the other two as an elite possession receiver. He's particularly good when the other team cannot give help on his side, as they won't be able to with Holmes lined up opposite.

Edwards is like a poor man's David Boston at this point in his career, a great talent who has shown he can produce but is inconsistent enough that nobody wants to give him a huge contract. If he doesn't have a really solid 4 games at the start of the season I expect he's going to begin the vagabond, kicking around phase of his career where he turns up on a different team each year trying to recapture the one great season he had with Cleveland. He's got enough talent that he'll be able to get maybe 3 teams to give him a real shot before he's 31 and out of the league.

I really think you're going to see Holmes/Edwards as the #1/#2 guys when Holmes comes back. Cotch will be used in the slot where he can rape nickel backs, safeties and linebackers. If teams don't put a safety over one of Holmes/Edwards they are taking a big risk as either has the ability to beat most CB's 1 on 1. If they do put a safety over both of them, our running game should flourish. Either way, the matchup problems defenses will have to consider with Holmes/Edwards out their are too good to pass up IMO.

It will be interesting to see how he plays this year. Agreed that he can play lights out one week (in Miami last year) and then let the ball bounce off his face mask.....

I think you'll see Holmes/Edwards at split end and flanker most times in 3 WR sets, with Cotchery in the slot, but I don't think that Cotchery is going to be relegated to slot duty exclusively. He is too valuable as a possession receiver, moving the chains the hard way. That's why he compliments guys like Holmes and Edwards. He does the dirty work - run blocking, back shoulder sideline catches on his toes, catches across the middle.

I think the competition is between Holmes and Edwards here, Cotchery will remain the starter through 2012.

And considering Holmes and Edwards are both in contract years, someone is not going to stay around.

My money is on Holmes being cheaper. He only plays 12 games and has under 65 catches.

I'd prefer it if the title was "The Beard working on his catches".

I can't wait to see Holmes/Edwards/Cotch in 3WR sets - I just wish we could keep all three.
