    • For NHL, I believe I have 16 guys total. I could have missed some though. It's also worth noting that there are some guys who next year will hit that 10 year mark with the same team (both Sedin brothers come to mind). Additionally there are some guys who started their career with one team and then stayed with their current team for 10+ years.

Of course in hockey, you have 22 guys on a roster, in football there's 53. Of course your list doesn't include QBs. So I'll say either way, in both leagues, you have less than 1 player per roster spot. Although in football, you have an average of greater than 1 player per team, where in hockey you don't.

      Jarome Iginla Calgary Flames
      Milan Hejduk Colorado Avalanche
      Brenden Morrow Dallas Stars
      Jere Lehtinen Dallas Stars
      Tomas Holmstrom Detroit Red Wings
      Nicklas Lidstrom Detroit Red Wings
      Patrik Elias NJ Devils
      Jay Pandolfo NJ Devils
      Colin White NJ Devils
      Martin Brodeur NJ Devils
      Mike Fisher Ottawa Senators
      Daniel Alfredsson Ottawa Senators
      Chris Phillips Ottawa Senators
      Shane Doan Phoenix Coyotes
      Patrick Marleau San Jose Sharks
      Vincent Lecavalier TB Lightning

Under Hess the Jets were the "we take care of our own" kind of team. How did that work out for 30 or so years? We stuck with "our guys" past the point where it was obvious there were upgrades available.

The current organization is at least making some moves to take care of their people. Leon was offered good money, Revis has been offered good money.

The Jets handled the Leon situation just fine.

Leon Washington was a greedy punk who gambled and lost. He was a very good kick returner and a decent third down back, nothing more. I still can't believe that people on these boards wanted to give him $6 mil per year when we had much bigger priorities on the horizon. Now we saved $ 6 mil and got John Conner who looked like a real stud on Hard Knocks.

As for Revis, anyone turning down a 10 year $120 mil contract obviously cares about money much more than the fans, his teammates, or the Jets. When he sees that the Jets can win a couple games without him hopefully he will cave.

^^ I agree a player who turns down a 10 year deal worth 120 mil is insane. Revis doesn't care about the team or the superbowl. He cares about how fat his paycheck will be. I don't want a player with that attitude on the team. If i were the jets front office I wouldnt even try to negotiate a contract until they approached me. Revis is extremely important to the things Rex likes to do but no player is worth the future of our whole team.

Once Revis signs his extension this thread should be closed, locked, and tucked away never to be seen again.

This thread would be reduced by 25% if you took out all the posts bitching about it.

Now, someone help me out on this... if Revis say "I am not playing for the Jets, I will just sit this season out " What exactly is the penalty for this? I know he's still under contract, and this also makes me think if he pull this crap and gets away with it, what's going to stop other to do the same.

I need not think or say that the Jets need to sign Revis at whatever cost. But the point is not whether Cromartie, Wilson and Lowery cannot be serviceable. The point is how much is missing if Revis is not in there.

Revis strikes me as unique at least in the sense that his ability allows the Jets to play him man to man on the other team's best receiver. Usually a team puts their best corner on the other team's #2 wideout, and covers their best receiver with some form of double coverage. Revis covers the opponent's #1.

The Jets face Anquan Bolden, Welker/Moss and Marshall in their first three games. Revis being absent will hurt the effort against those teams.

Having said that, I intend to limit my participation in this discussion since I think it more and more likely that Revis will not play this season.

For one he doesn't get paid and has to pay all the fines for missing camp. He also doesn't accrue a year of eligibility so he's basically back where he started but with less money in his pocket.

The penalty aside from the fine, is his contract does not advance.

He's still into the jets for 3 years, including 1 year @ 1 mil.

I don't see how Revis plays this year. The Jets think they can play without him, so they're comfortable with sticking to their budget. Revis is stuck with his god complex, so he's not going to back down. End result? No Revis

The only way that changes is if the Jets go 4-0 or 0-4 to start the season
