I'm off to work so I don't have time to look this one up but send me a PM to remind me and I'll look for this one. The whole justification from the owners behind cutting the 18% for players was so they can afford higher salaries.

$40 million over 10 years. That's $4 million/year average. Not one of those guys are going to play for $4million/year or less unless they have a season they regret.

im not saying they would play for that but if we're negotiating with them it might make the diffrence to have that money also that money might be broken down anyway not just 4 mill a year.

    * Let Beavis sit and settle with Mangold and Harris, the importance of those 2 far outweigh Beavis.

The problem with that line of thinking is that $12 million/year is already 20% higher than the next highest paid CB not named Nnamdi. Can we all agree the Nnamdi contract is an anomaly created by Al Davis?

    Code:
Team Name Year Total $ Guaranteed Years Per Year $
    Denver Broncos Champ Bailey 2004 63m Unknown 7 9
    San Francisco 49ers Nate Clements 2007 80m 22m 8 10m
    Carolina Panthers Chris Gamble 2008 53m 23m 6 8.83m
    Indianapolis Colts Kelvin Hayden 2009 43m Unknown 5 8.6m
    Atlanta Falcons Dunta Robinson 2010 57m 22.5m 6 9.5m
    Philadelphia Eagles Asante Samuel 2008 57m 20m 6 9.5m
New York Giants Corey Webster 2008 43.5m Unknown 5 8.7m
    Seattle Seahawks Marcus Trufant 2008 50.2m 20m 6 8.37m
    Minnesota Vikings Antoine Winfield 2009 36m 16.1 5 7.2m
Green Bay Packers Charles Woodson 2006 52m Unknown 7 7.42m
$16 million/year is 60% more than what the next highest CB makes. 60%!

If you pay Revis 60% more than the next highest CB you better be paying Mangold at least 20% more than the next highest center. What about Harris? Everyone is going to expect ground breaking contracts if you give a crazy one like that out. $12 MM/year long term is a very nice deal.

Actually on OTL yesterday the former GM of the Skins explained how ASO contract came to pass. Last year he was franchised & according to Davis would have been franchised again this year so he would have had to pay him the same money he gave him in contract & got a few additional years along the way.

HECK, SIGN THEM ALL. With Revis money Sign Cro, Holmes, Harris, Mangold, Edwards - Throw the money around and lock em all up...

Trade Revis in the offseason - Try for 2 1st rounders - Draft another CB and move on....

This season may be derailed but, Sanchez is still a baby - Come out next year with the CB's deeper and make a run - Send Revis to Tampa.

I'm not sure If I could face Revis or his agent after the BS they pull.

That doesn't mean it was smart. Also, he is paying him the franchise tag price for a QB, not a CB. The franchise tag is not meant to be a long term solution.

Al Davis doesn't have the mind he used to.

Nope that according to the GM that was the franchise price for a CB not a QB

also bailey made 13 mill last year and this article says he would have had a cap figure this year of 15.38 mill it also explains how that contract makes sense

To boot, that was only a short term deal.

    1) That Florio article is retarded.
    2) You can pull out individual years of contracts all you want if you want to sound like Florio, we're talking about average per year.

I cannot believe people want to try and justify a contract that is 60% higher than any other player at that position. It's insane.

I have a feeling that both sides will ultimately agree to 10 years at $13.5 million with $40 million guaranteed, and $20 million of that fully guaranteed. Seems like that should cover both sides.
