Apologies if already posted - Mangold and Harris have been told they won't get new contracts until next summer.

According to rotoworld Mangold is an RFA in 2011, which would give us some protection anyway. I'm not sure if that's effected by all the CBA nonsense though. Harris is listed as just a FA.

Seems like Tanny is playing with fire here.

    I'll go with labor uncertainty.

    There's no other reason.

But that makes about 4 big stars that are going to need contracts next season if they want to keep everyone. 5 including Revis if it actually gets to that point.

Get the fucking CBA done so Tanny can work his magic on the cap

On one hand you have to give him credit for being patient and waiting for the rules to be set in stone. He re-signed D'Brick, but that was actually a more cap friendly deal than his original rookie contract so it made sense.

On the other hand, you have to wonder if he's being too ballsy here. I mean, you're basically telling Harris to go find the best deal he can get by allowing him to become a FA. Maybe that's a moot point if the CBA gets done and Tanny can get deals done, but if it doesn't ...

yeah. I'm not surprised by this, but it does put a LOT o pressure on next offseason.

  7. Ya gotta feel for these guys. But i do believe that if a CBA gets reached and if the cap is gone/greatly extended, The FO will take care of these guys.

Harris needs to prove he can stay healthy. Mangold doesn't need to prove anything. He's the best center in football.

    Very true.

I pray that they take care of Harris first, and what going to be awesome for us and suck for the business side is that he's gearing up to have a career year in this system. He's going to want a big contract. If they can resign him before he test the market it can help a great deal.

Since mangold is RFA, it makes life easier for the team.

....But wait, if mangold is RFA, how come Harris isn't? Harris was drafted a year after Mangold.

Good to see Mangold is putting aside the off-season disappoint in not getting a new contract and helping our young left guards, as they prepare for the season, Mangold next off-season IMO will get a long term deal regardless of what happens this season, he's the most important player on our offense and I hope to see him retire as a Jet, he's hands down the best C in the NFL today

Mangold and Harris better be getting long term deals, as soon as this CBA thing is over and done with

Unless they plan to use the franchise tag on Harris, they really should take care of him first (if Mangold really is an RFA instead of a UFA).

^ Callahan and Sanchez described the traits of a Hall of Fame player at the end of that article.

    Tanny is the best.

It's possible rotoworld is wrong. I looked at NYJetsCap.com and they have it the other way around with Mangold being the UFA and Harris being the RFA.

I could be wrong here, but I thought Mangold was a FA and Harris was a RFA

EDIT: That's that is says on nyjetscap.com

I wonder if the Jets put out a lot of money for injury insurance?

I know it's against the rules but I'm sure they're all loopholes around that.

Mangold is a a FA and Harris is a RFA as mentioned above. I did not expect a deal for Harris this year anyway.

Just shows the type of guys they're, not pussies worried about injury. (I know easy for me to say)

Yea rotoworld and nyjetscap seem to contradict each other. Either way, you have to wonder what exactly Tanny has in mind here.

If we don't win the Super Bowl this season, and we let Mangold get away from us, I'm going to be pissed the fuck off.

This sucks. I really hope Tannenbaum smoothes this situation out before it gets nasty at the end of the season.

This is really bad and makes the Jet organization look bad. We dont need Mangold pulling a Mankins next year. Tanny should be figuring out contracts during this year. I know about the CBA but other teams are figuring it out
