Replacing the big fella should be top priority for the Jets FO at next year's draft.

I have to admit....after reading the bolded line below....Jenkins' durability has me a tad worried.

wow i there's a thread up on finheaven that says "marshall gave everyone a scare" yesterday when he twisted his ankle, he was fine though (thankfully)

this is the bad part about training camp where any little thing can sound like a season ending injury.

glad to see he is ok, if he wasn't on your team, he'd be one of my fav players haha

That's it, everyone off the field. All practices will be conducted on Madden 2011 from now on. Then the only risk is thumb injury.

You hope that no one gets injured, but what can u do, it's a contact sport. Shit can and will happen.

  5. This may turn out to be a blessing. If he had a scare on that same knee, and it held up, that may give Jenkins much more confidence on it.

We need to draft a bunch of d-line men next draft.

Pretty much staked every where else. I expect at least 3 talents in the 2011 draft taken by the Jets.

That's odd. I could have sworn that when Jenkins tore his ACL in 2009, that it was Shaun Ellis falling on his leg and not him falling in an awkward way that caused the ligament to go.

Our defense still held up pretty well after Jenx went down last year.

I still think youth, talent, and depth at DE will be the bigger need come next year's draft, but this may change depending on how well Gholston plays this year.

It'd be smart to draft a talented rotational DL who'd be able to play at both end and NT.

I know the feeling of falling the same way and thinking, "shit this is familiar and not good"

He's fine though, so it's no big deal

After listening to Jenkins talk in some interviews, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this is his final year in the league. I just hope he gives Tanny some fair warning before he does it so that we can get a new NT before he finally retires. Pouha is a good stop-gap if he gets injured again but he's also 30 so we're going to need a younger incumbent.

we have jenkins replacement ... his name is sione pouha

  14. Problem is, Pouha is 31 already. He's not a long-term solution at NT. The one long-term hole I see, unless something catastrophic happens with the Revis negotiations, is on the defensive line, and namely at NT.

Pouha did a nice job last season, but he is no Kris Jenkins.

We should just use mangold. NFL players are wimps for not playing both offense and defense.

how many kris jenkins type players are there? 2, maybe 3 in the league?

pouha is 31 but he doesnt have the wear and tear of your typical 31 year old nfl playe

hes strong and has good technique so he should be able to handle a slight taper in his athleticism as he ages

  18. He's definitely a short-term solution, an adequate NT for Rex's system, but the team still needs a long-term NT.

He's not a long term solution. At that position, we need one. Like I said, he did well in rotation last season, but he's not the type of player than will successfully anchor a defense like this. They have to give him help.

We need a guy that will command double-teams every single time he is on the field. I saw plenty of times last season where Pouha was blocked by a single man. If he was such a solution to replace Jenkins, the Jets would not have had to help him out with so many 4 DL sets.
