My guess, 1. Peterson 2. Williams 3. Stewart 4. Steve Smith 5. Housh??? 6. ??? Pick 5 and 6 are likely where things took a turn for the worse.
That's not the point I was making. I was saying in a PPR league you want to focus a little harder on WRs in the early rounds, or at least RBs who get a lot of receptions. However, since it's only a .5ppr league it's not that big of a deal.
Mostly fine for a 12 teamer, good RB setup. You need a better #2 than Housh. I like Mike Wallace as a sleeper pick, he might get you nothing while Ben is out, but should pay off in the weeks that count. Anthony Gonz will end up a 1000 yard guy in Indy though, so he can fill a spot. Heath is a pretty weak TE for this year's NFL considering there are like 7-8 primo guys, and you didn't get one, which you probably had to do, without a top flight WR or QB. But I'm not as down on this squad as most. It's competitive.
Quite a few players you have I wouldn't even take off waivers so IDK you DRAFTED them. To each their own I suppose. I wouldn't be scared of your team, but if everyone hits their max potential you could have a borderline playoff team. Kolb should be fine. Your backs should be great, but idk about starting both Panther backs tho it's not a stupid idea just risky. I like Mike Wallace for a #3 but not #2. Smith should be good but Nicks should steal some catches. Housh? REALLY?... Miller is decent D and K are great. If you pay attention to out of nowhere free agents you could for sure contend though.
I did a 10 team yahoo auction draft, and this is what I came up with.. QB- Schaub WR- Calvin Johnson WR- Roddy White WR- Percy Harvin RB- Shonn Greene RB- Steven Jackson TE- Winslow K- Akers DEF- Browns (will switch each week according to matchup, great strategy) Bench: QB- Stafford WR- Collie, V Jackson RB- Felix Jones, Forsett, Ricky Williams
Now this team I like. I am not a big fan of Steven Jackson but Jones and Forsett give you plenty of insurance if he gets hurt again. I am not sure who the Browns play in week one but I probably would have picked another team to start with.
They play the Bucs week one. Defense doesn't even show on the list so I spaced and used all my money forgetting about defense.. Anyway thanks, I'm feeling thet same way about Steven Jackson but I am really really big on Felix this year and I'm sure Ricky will get plenty of carries too. I think Forsett is gonna break out this year with his only competition being Leon and Julius Jones.. (weak)
I don't hate it, it's just that if I miss out on the top 7 QBs or so, I'm making sure I get Roethlisberger or Favre later as a legit backup. -3 interceptions and 6 points TD put a lot of emphasis on red zone opportunities, and the Eagles like to screw around. I think Vick could depress Kolb's stats, and there's always the threat of him throwing too many picks. My only real problem is some of the mid-round guys aren't great value. Steve Smith in the 4th and Mike Wallace/Housh in the 5th and 6th are okay, but I like them all about a half a round later. There's just nothing that screams out to me that this team is great. But I do like Marion Barber as trade bait if he gets off to a nice start or if something happens to Felix. The RBs are great, but it's not that exciting at QB, TE, or WR.
He has ye to play a full season in this league and when he gets hurt Ricky always steps in and wrecks shop.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I think some have lost site that I'm in a 12 team league and not a 10. So NJA it's easy for you to say well I wouldn't take those guys because you're in a 10 team league. There's more depth. And as far as Housh, I just think people are way down on him when last year he had Seneca Wallace as his QB for most of the year and he was going to a new situation. He still had 79 receptions, Hasselbeck is back, and I don't expect Tate to pick up any slack until about the 6th week of the season. Jetfanmack made a good point. I need a backup QB if Kolb falters. But frankly in this 12 team league my backs are the best and it's really not that close. So I'm pretty sure I'm a Felix Jones injury away from having a major trade chip that nets me either a wideout or I can package Barber and something else for a backup qb.
Actually, I think you've got a great team to work with. I don't know what everyone else is talking about. Kolb played two games last year and posted back to back 300 yd games (though against bad defenses). I'm not as high on him as a lot of people are, but he certainly has potential, and he's in an offense designed to throw the ball a lot. Only problem could be picks since they're -3 in your league. You certainly make up for it by having Peterson and DeAngelo. Assuming you got Peterson at the latest 3rd, that means DeAngelo somehow made it all the way back to you in the 2nd round, which is just crazy. How quickly people forget the year before, huh? DeAngelo is a very solid player with some injury concerns. I also don't like the idea of starting both Carolina RBs, but here's the upside to having them both: they're both big injury risks, one gets hurt, the other then gets all the carries. And I have to say, having Barber on your bench (who I think has a decent bounce back year) is a great insurance policy. On to your WRs, in a PPR league your top 2 are great. Steve Smith will be Manning's top target again presumably, and unlike in college when he couldn't get past the 1 yard line, he learned how to get in the end zone. He should be a good #1 WR for you (top 10? I don't know, but he's close). People are really down on Housh this year. Maybe it's because he had less than 80 catches and less than a thousand yards and only 3 TDs. I can understand that they haven't done much to help him out in the offseason. You're drafting him hoping he has some sort of resurgence. Maybe he does, but I would go into the season expecting similar #'s, which to me makes him a relatively poor #2, but not terrible. I'm not crazy about him, or Wallace who we have no idea what to expect and he's got Leftwich throwing to him for a few weeks. Your TE is crap and I hope/assume you didn't draft him early. Heath Miller is a good player, but not a good fantasy player. He'll annoy you more than you realize in my opinion. I'm not crazy about your bench other than Barber. I think you will be able to make some moves without looking back though come Week 1 and be able to acquire some real sleepers. The plus is that you have the toughest position to fix locked up at RB with 4 potential studs. The other positions are easier to fix during the season if you see any leaks.
Love your team's talent, but a lot of those guys you couldn't feel comfortable drafting. I think you should name your team "Injured Reserve" now before it happens, though I hope it doesn't. By the way, take a look at Steven Jackson's schedule. I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised if you haven't seen it already. But yeah, between Schaub, Calvin, Harvin, Greene, SJax, Winslow, Felix, and even Akers for God's sake, your team could be awesome, or it could end up on a gurney.
Drafted Miller in the last round. To me the run of qb's and tight ends went way too early. Philip Rivers even in a 12 team league isn't a second rounder. Owen Daniels in the 6th is fucking nuts. But I missed the boat on both runs because I tried to stay true to my board. I'm not high on Miller at all, but he was my tight end when i won a title last year so i know he can contribute. The first 6 weeks without big ben i think might be a blessing, Dixon or Leftwich will need a sure-handed security blanket aside from Hines. Not sold on Wallace either, but after Caldwell said Gonzalez is going to pick up where he left off (he was supposed to be the second wideout last year) im hoping he steps up and takes the job.
Here we are 7 weeks into the season and my team is totally different. After starting out 0-2 I've rolled off 5 straight to get into a tie for first. I dealt AP for MJD and Romo (that was working out well until Monday) also packaged DeAngelo and Steve Smith for AJ and TJ and that will now be the basis of my next question. WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO. Current Roster looks like this: QB: Ryan Fitz, Romo (really I'm just waiting on the results today. If it's 6 weeks or less he stays. If not he goes) HB: MJD, Tj, Benjarvus Green-Ellis, Reggie Bush, J Stew WR: Andre Johnson,Mike Wallace, Roy Williams, Steve Johnson, TE: Brent Celek, Tony Moeki D: Tennesee So can Fitz logically keep this shit up? An owner in the league has both Brees and Roethlisberger and has indicated Big Ben is available. But the price starts with Mike Wallace and either TJ or Benjarvus. Do I keep Fitz and right this motherfucker out or make the trade for Big Ben.
