Yea I was very excited for the MNF game. I viewed it as one of the biggest game in the entire season for the NFL. Now its well, the Jets show.
Kellen Clemmons. I would not be surprised if the Vikes make a QB move. I still think they should have gotten McNab when he was availible earlier in the offseason.
They didn't have harvin before Favre and he was a huge part of that team plus Rice hadn't developed yet(I know Favre was a big part of that). I think they can still compete for a SB but we'll see. This oculd be a devastating blow mentally as the team is already in camp or it could motivate them to say "screw Favre we'll win it w/o him". They do have the talent to be a big time team though. The other teams are much improved but so is Minnesota around the QB. I think they would still be a playof team w/ a great shot to win the division.
That's a good point, although his red-zone opportunities may go way down. I believe 2009 was AP's career high in TDs.
How so? Favre made their receivers better than they were before they got there. Sidney Rice was an underacheiver prior to Favre getting there. They also lost Chester Taylor who was a great change of pace back to Adrian Peterson
You think Rice is going to go back to pre '09? His #s likely won't be as good but I would still expect a much better WR than we saw in 2008. They drafted Gerhart this year, they have weapons around the QB and they will be a good team w/ or w/o Favre. Can they be great w/o him? I don't know.
i was down in Minneapolis last week.....there are Toby Gerhart jerseys everywhere.....apparently, they're pretty high on this kid. I think Chester Taylor is an afterthought. I will say this though....if they don't get a viable QB in that offense.....that team will take 3 steps back this year. Sorry junc, I disagree with you......as Jets fans, we should know from experience how shitty an offense can be without a good QB taking the snaps.
Rice was a top tier receiver in college. Like most receivers, it took him three years to get acclimated to the NFL. Shitty quarterback play in Minnesota may have slowed his development a bit, but he should consistently be a big time wideout in this league from this point on. Their receiving corps' statistics will definitely take a hit though.
They're a Wild Card team at best without Brett Favre. I agree that they have a lot of talent at the skill positions, but Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels aren't good enough to win a division. I can see them winning 9 to 10 games because of their running game and defense - it most definitely won't be because of their quarterback though.
The NFL just shit themselves because now that opener on THursday night just got a lot less interesting.
