It's not a coincidence that they added two very good corners; I'm not sure they add two corners if they're sure Revis is playing this year.

Darrelle Revis' contract isn't the reason the Jets added two corners.

The Jets added two corners because Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland failed to live up to expectations(stay healthy, not suck) and not adding two corners would mean that they Jets would be stuck with Revs at the #1, Dwight Lowery(too slow) at the #2, and Drew Coleman(fucking kill me) at the #3. We needed to add two corners and we happened to find out that one really good veteran CB(Cro) and a top table prospect(Wilson) were available to us.

Top it off with the fact that Ryan's defense is predicated on the cornerbacks being able to hold down their WRs with very little safety help so the safeties can be free to blitz the QB from the box as a way of increasing the pressure the front seven can put on the QB and you have the reason why the Jets went out and picked up Cromartie and Wilson.

There's no Darrelle Revis contract conspiracy here.

    The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread

Exactly Woody can say he gave Darrelle a bj if he wanted.

Johnson&Johnson is doing well these days though. Woody definitely has the cash.

I'm not saying their was a conspiracy. I am saying that come draft day they knew there was some chance that Revis was going to hold out for some/all of 2010, and that figured in their thinking. If Revis was locked up maybe (maybe) they pick a younger guy in the front seven or another safety, both of which were also needs.

I don't believe he has a stake in J&J anymore. Not sure about that.

Does Woody actually own much J&J stock? It's a pubic company you know; it's not his personal piggy bank.

Source? I'm flipping through their SEC disclosures right now and don't see anything like that. In fact, no single shareholder owns more than 5% of the company.

I fucking hate players who hold out with years still left on contracts. Revis is a beast, we know that. But YOU signed the rookie deal you and your agent worked so hard on. With that being said, I love Revis, so give him the money he deserves and get his ass back into camp so we can win this thing.

    I think it's Champ Bailey at $8Mill per....But I'm not 100% positive of the $8Mill

EDITED - Bailey is set to make $9.5Mill this year

Yeah, there's a huge gap between #1 and #2, that's a lot of the issue as I understand it.

Joe Haden just signed a 5-year, $50 million deal, but I don't know what he gets paid this year.

That's what I found as well, just wanted to make sure. Just seems crazy to pay him $15M +/year

I though Woodson was scheduled to make almost 11 million?

Woodson has three years left on his current deal. He’s scheduled to make $7.5 million this season, followed by $5.5 million and $6.5 million in the following two.

One aspect of this holdout that we're overlooking is the effect it will have on our offense/defense being able to practice effectively. Having our offense practice against the #1 defense would definitely strengthen the unit, but without Revis it's just not the same.
