They haven't exercised the buyback years yet. If they want to keep Revis, they won't try. Once it becomes a multi-million dollar investment, it becomes a fucking business. He is playing the game.
The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread Revis will be fined $16,523 a day. Per Steve Politi. (don't know how to spell his name)
Sean Gilbert "initimately" involved in holdout. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ntimately-involved-in-darrelle-revis-holdout/ Plenty of Jets fans are shrugging off the absence of cornerback Darrelle Revis as a short-term protest aimed at making a point. It could be more appropriate for Jets fans to engage in a somewhat different activity that starts with "sh" and ends with "ing." Per a league source, former NFL defensive tackle Sean Gilbert is "intimately involved' in the holdout process. Gilbert, the brother of Revis' mother, once sat out an entire season in a contract dispute with the Redskins. Gilbert's level of involvement wasn't clear in past weeks, especially when Revis seemed to ignore Gilbert's general view that a player in such situations should let his agent do the talking. We're also told that Revis has no concerns about holding out beyond August 10, despite a widespread belief that he'll report by the last date for picking up his fourth year of credit toward free agency. As we understand it, Revis is fully committed to staying away until he gets a long-term deal with real genuine guaranteed money, not the D'Brickashaw Ferguson fiction that requires the player to get through at least one season without suffering a serious injury before beginning to unlock real dollars. We've got more to come on this. But this particular cow has a full udder, and we need to milk it slowly.
As long as he is in the stadium week one I don't care about any of this anymore. Revis can show up week one with no practice time and he would still shut down boldin. This will eventually work itself out. both sides have far to much to lose if it doesn't.
He's entering his prime. He's still under contract for 3 more years. If he wants to sit out this year and risk losing two years of his career if the strike happens then he's a fucking moron. What's he gonna do if this this time next year there is a strike, he gave up all that money and still has no deal. This will probably go on for awhile...second or third preseason game but he'll get his deal and be attached to boldins hip on sept 13.
Difference is gilbert had one year remaining. Revis has three. Once again Florios storys missing crucial information.
Sure he has one year of being the best, but even in his sophomore year he distinguished himself as one of the elite corners, he didnt get credit for it but Revis Island was established before the 2009 season I completely understand what you mean about consistency, but even though he may not have proven he is consistently the best corner in the league, he has consistently proven he is one of the elite corners in the league.
Cromartie is the #1, Wilson is the #2 and Lowery is nickel. But it means Drew Coleman would see action. NO NO NO THAT WAS NOT A SERIOUS POST!
My main problem is this is an uncapped year. So why don't we pay him an excessive amout like $25 million for this season then say like $12 million for the next two seasons. At the end of the day he would around 50 million for 3 years, which would pass Nandi's contract. And it would hurt our cap for future seasons to much.
Because there are restrictions set by the CBA that would prevent that exact thing from happening. Do you even think before you post or do you just try adamantly to ignore every significant detail on every topic posted in this forum?
i believe the answer to that is the 30% rule. And besides, if we do that, we start the whole thing all over again in 2 years.
I am glad the Jets have waited on a new deal and even happier he is holding out for even one day. He just screwed himself and kissed guaranteed money away. He has received a lot of money and was given a good contract to begin with. He signed and should honor the original contract which still has three years left. If life was fair the team would get 90% of Gholston’s contract back. Even if he holds out for the entire year we will still have the best defense and he will still be a Jet for three more seasons. Revis is not a team player and the defense will still be great without his greedy ass.
Why sign him to a new deal for three years when he is already signed for three more years. And if we sign him to a new six year deal he will probable pull the same shit in three, so why bother with his ass....
