Right. Firing Jerry is not going to magically fix things. Jerry is stuck with a shitty team due to a shitty organization and front office. You can hate jerry all you want, the team is not going to change until people like minaya get fired.
I disagree that the team is shitty. Up until today Niese had been pitching fantastic just not getting run support. Guys like Wright, Davis, Reyes and Beltran are all potential All Stars and Pagan is proving to be a good player. Santana, Niese and Dickey had all pitched very well in June and July but I guess August is about the time the collapse comes. I can dislike Minaya but I hate the owners more because they lost a shit load if money to Madoff and instead of sell the team like one would think you'd do when you lose 400 million they hold onto it.
The Mets lineup is extremely shitty. Wright and Pagan are the only players that have been decent for any sustained period of time this year.
Well, yeah, kinda. I mean, if Wally Backman was the field manager with the same assholes in the front office, the team would play with more fire. Backman would go nuts a few times a year with water coolers thrown against the dugout wall, bats thrown onto the field and stuff like that. Beltran's in a slump? Backman'll throw a firecracker on the floor in front of Beltran's stall when he's taking a shit. "Maybe that'll wake you up, you motherfucker."
