Before I get tarred and feathered I'm just passing on something that was on local radio here. Every week they bring Mike "Douche" Florio on the ESPN affiliate here and today they were talking about nobody wanting TO. The host said he felt Rosenhaus was lying and that there were no teams interested in TO but Florio said he honestly believes that there is a team in his back pocket and he feels it's a Final 8 team. Obviously Dallas or Minnesota are out. Chargers GM AJ Smith said they don't want him. His quote was that "I have a feeling it's either the Jets or Colts" I'm not sure why Florio would rule out Arizona, Baltimore or New Orleans but to think it's one or the other is pure speculation on his part but it makes sense. After tomorrow we can sign any UFA and Owens would qualify. All the teams in the league know this so if they wanted to sign him they would have done so already. If I can find the podcast I'll paste the link but I can't see it happening for Owens to swallow his pride enough to be the 3rd fiddle behind Holmes and Edwards although for 4 weeks he'd be the #1A with Edwards. Now for Owens the Jets or Colts would make the most sense as well because those are the two best teams on paper in the AFC and adding him makes them nearly unstoppable on offense although the thought of choosing to play with Manning would make me cream my pants if I was him but the question is would Manning want to play with him?
Rich is just the messenger here...he doesn't deserve a bullet for this. Having said that.....T.O makes no sense for this roster in any capacity.....i think this is just bullshit rumor mongering
Florio is Florio, but at this point in his career I wouldn't put T.O. ahead of Cotchery, either. More to the point, it's hard to imagine a worse fit for a young QB trying to come into his own than a prima donna like Owens. And no, I don't think that his relatively quiet year in Buffalo means that he's changed - I think it means that no one gave a damn about him when he was there. I sincerely hope that the Jets don't go anywhere near him.
to be honest he would be fourth fiddle once holmes returns. Cotch is a beloved leader in the locker room. No way he gets bypassed on the depth chart for that selfish douchebag, especially since at this stage J-co has 3 times the talent of TO
I didn't say I was for it or that it made sense for us just that it made sense for Owens if he could stomach not being option #1 or 2 or maybe even 3. I think Florio is nuts for suggesting us but the guy has some good sources and I think where there is smoke there is fire but the way this team has gone out and gotten every player they wanted under the sun it wouldn't completely floor me if they did sign him.
it would mean our WHOLE offensive philiosophy would be 4/5 wide....NOT run to set up pass NO WAY....and that is NOT playing into Sanchez's strength.....hes not the new Brady yet
What if the CS didn't have the faith that Greene could handle the workload of being an everydown back? I'm not saying they do but IMO bringing in Holmes as well as Connor and McKnight might be an indication they're not as high in the running game as they lead us to believe.
Yeah put aside the fact that he's T.O. which alone is enough to make me say Fuck No. Where would we put him?
Imagine T.O. with the Colts. I actually think that's a great fit for them, if T.O. has anything left.
The question I have is would the media rip the Colts for taking a chance on a guy with a sketchy past? My guess they'll all praise what a brilliant move it was for the Colts and how smart of a GM Bill Polian is.
If you guys signed this douche, it would regress your offense. He doesn't fit your philosiphy in the lease bit. T.O. is a "me first" player. The biggest thing for your team is how well/fast the players will gell. T.O. would hinder that significantly. This would be a huge mistake for the Jets organization. I don't think Rex is that dumb.
