Sanchez is coming from a knee surgery. I would like a QB that can help out incase Sanchez goes down for a game or two again with the same injury. If Sanchez is available for every meaningful game, I don't care even if we ask Joe to start a game. But that can't be guaranteed.
Maybe...but that doesn't mean it had something to do with Brunell. Brees had several seasons worth mentioning even before Brunell got there. Brees still had a learning curve and he achieved it. It probably could have been achieved without Brunell as well. Either way, Brunell has no place on this team as a player.
I hope he comes back. I remember after the Jets Cincy Wildcard game on Jets nation Marques Douglas yelled "I GUESS WE BACKED INTO THAT WIN TOO HUH?" and just storms off into the locker room pissed off hahah.
I really hope he is back with the team, he is a solid DE and brings a lot of experience and swagger to the D. lol i remember after Kaedings 3rd missed FG in the playoffs against SD he said to the lineman in front of him "hey man y'all gotta get rid of him" hahah
The good news is that sacks don't matter for a 3-4 DE. Thanks Rotoworld. But its good that he's coming back. He was never a problem on the defense. He's a fine fill in.
He's a solid rotational player. And if they can't beat out a 33 year old JAG, they aren't as talented as you think.
Yeah, Rotoworld is my favorite internet news parrot. It's actually reporting a Tweet from Manish speculating in Twitter, exactly like Cimini is doing in the OP. I have a feeling that they are right, but they aren't really making a report or anything.
Absolutely we should bring back Douglas. He was surprisingly stout last season for us and has always been very underrated. The DE spot will be a constant rotation, so why not bring him into the mix?
I think the Jets were hoping someone signed Douglas, so we could target another FA under the final 8/4 rules. Now that the restriction will be lifted, the Jets will bring him back.
"Rex Ryan will bring him back into the fold as a backup pass rusher" lmao *sigh* why is that so many "media" outlets still fail to understand the concept that in a base 3-4 defense the DE's are NOT PASSRUSHERS? "he only had 1.5 sacks" that means nothing when the guy has made a living throughout his career by bringing down the RB's behind the line of scrimmage.
Agreed... half of the teams in the league run the 3-4 but it seems the positions (and their statistical value) is only referred to the 4-3. I find it amazingly stupid... and that happens in the all-pro votings as well! They should have a vote for 4-3 teams and one for 3-4...
That actually depends on if they are in the under or over front in the 34. Bruce Smith build a hall of fame pass rushing craeer as a 34 end because on obvious passing downs they shifted ot the under and slid him wide of the Left tackle giving him a one on one match-up out there. Douglas fills this slot for us when we shift to that front, but for the most part you are correct. A good rotational/depth signing and a needed one if it happens.
If Douglas resigns, that will most likely end up happening, i'm def. willing to put money on it. Douglas will have a better season than Gholston. sad, but most likely inevitable.
Apparently he's NOT in their plans according to Cimini. Who knows...... http://espn.go.com/blog/new-yorkjets/post/_/id/695/upon-further-view-forget-douglas?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Upon further review, forget Douglas There has been speculation in recent days (including some from this blog) about the possibility of the New York Jets re-signing DE Marques Douglas once the "Final Eight" restriction is lifted on Thursday. That would seem to make sense, right? Well, folks, forget about it. According to a source, the Jets will not be re-signing Douglas in the near future. I suppose it could happen in training camp, if a defensive lineman gets hurt or if the young players aren't cutting it, but Douglas is not on the team's frontburner as of now. That means the defensive line will look like this: Kris Jenkins, Sione Pouha, Shaun Ellis and Mike DeVito are the top four, with Vernon Gholston, Rodrique Wright, Ropati Pitoitua and Matt Kroul in reserve. Don't forget, Jason Taylor and Bryan Thomas can play end in four-man alignments.
