In the 1965 NFL Western Division Playoff between the Packers and the Colts, the Colts were without both Johnny Unitas and back up Gary Cuozzo due to injury. In there place they used RB Tom Matte as QB. With Baltimore up 10-7 with less than 2 minutes to go Don Chandler kicked the game trying FG they went above the uprights. The Colts disputed the call saying the ball was wide right. The Packers went on to win in OT, but a rule change was made to make the uprights higher to help avoid this type of controversy the next season.
THIS was the wildcat, before it got a fancy name. IIRC, Payton also played placekicker while in college. He really could do it all.
I seem to remember Marcus Allen throwing a long TD pass to Wes Chandler in the Pro-Bowl (86?). Unless my mind was addled on drugs that day.
