Good shit. LT is (obviously) a priority position and he's a good one.

You bring up some players that had great years but none of them were on the level of Revis...I mean the guy had a MVP caliber year IMO and was the main reason for the team's overall success

Just imagine the defense last year without him

Now imagine any of those teams without the players you mentioned...not as big of a dropoff

None of the players you mentioned were as crucial to their team's success as Revis was

I'm not saying Revis is going to "stink"...but if you try to force him to play out his contract at a rate he doesn't deem acceptable then its common sense that he's not going to perform as well...I mean the fact that he's making such a big deal about the money shows that

Just apply it to real life...If you bust your ass at your job and get a review and don't get the raise you feel you deserve you're either going to a)find a new employer or b) not try as hard

Granted the situation is a little different given he is under contract, but the concept is the same

It' kind of the dog that bites his tail though... if he doesn't play as well what leverage does he have while going to ANY team and ask for the kind of money he wants...

    By the way...

DO NOT BANK WITH RICH CIMINI!

That's about three weeks old, I think? Well done, Rich.

I can definitely see Brady playing for another team because of money issues. I don't know what team, but I don't think he'll be a Patriot for life.

good. we locked up the most important player on the core four (stupid name) kc joyner be damned.

don't think we're resigning harris. revis should have been next, but we can wait on him. manigold will probably be too expensive and not worth it. that's just my gut feeling though.

probably braylon will be the next one to get a deal.

    /flame suit on.

The Jets aren't going to reward Edwards or Holmes with a new deal until next off-season.

2011's receiver draft class could potentially be the best ever with players like AJ Green, Julio Jones, Michael Floyd, and Jonathan Baldwin.

If neither one stands out, we'll more than likely bring back the cheaper of the two and go after a playmaker in the draft.

This team really doesn't have too many holes now - it's a great feeling.

I wouldn't be surprised if we let Mangold test the open market and then have him come back to us. The thing is that centers just are not valuable enough to demand LT money. That's why you hear the talk about franchising him because we can't afford to give him more money than a center (even the best one) is worth.

Harris will absolutely be resigned. Tanny's phone rings off the hook whenever deal possibilities have come around, and they always want Harris. Rex said he was always the "player to be named." If he wasn't getting resigned he'd have been dealt already, ala Leon.

Braylon's not getting shit this year. He's auditioning for a contract with Holmes this year. Two wideouts enter...one wideout leaves.

Revis is next. Then Mangold if it even gets done this year.

    Harris is next year.

Good luck getting one of those with the 32nd pick. I see another "supplemental" draft in the future.

He hasn't been traded because we have no one good to replace him with. After this year Westermaan should be good enough to fill in, and, depending on the cap, we either franchise him, franchise and trade, or let him go to FA for comps.

As for Manigold a good center is great, but I believe is another luxury on this team, especially with a transition to becoming more pass oriented. I trust our scouts to do their due diligence for next year's draft and pick up a C early on.

Revis is cheap for 3 years so we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Honestly Cromartie probably gets a new deal during the season. Hopefully at 6 or 7 mil per depending on how he's performing. He's a good hedge to the Revis situation.

There's a little thing called trading up. If the Jets need help at receiver, chances are Tanny will try to move up to get one. Plus, the four I listed are just my top four. There's a chance we'll see two of them (Green and Jones) go in the top three. There will be plenty of talent at the position.

A lot of people around here are setting the bar pretty high with all of the 32nd pick talk - let's win the division before getting our hopes up.

Is it wrong that I am almost hoping green gets injured and misses significant time (much in the same way as Jermaine Gresham did this past year) and that forces him to fall to a place we can reasonably trade up to get him?

idk man...if he just decides to be a dick about it/skip practices/etc. eventually the team will just trade him and cut their losses

other teams tend to overlook that type of thing if they think they can make the player happy

could be similar to the brandon marshall deal...a premier malcontent being traded and then given a monster contract...though revis would be traded for something more like a 1st and a 2nd if not a 1st and a 1st

this would work out in the jets favor but you could kiss this season's super bowl hopes goodbye
