I've read in a few places that his rookie contract has language that prohibits the Jets from using the Franchise or Transition tags on him if the Jets buy back his final 2 years.

Has anyone else heard that? Confirm or deny?

Revis cannot be franchised by the Jets under his rookie contract. The buybacks are guaranteed once they are exercised and after the third buyback he's a UFA with no franchise tag available.

Franchise tag cannot be used on Revis. We either buy back the contract making it a six year deal or let him walk after season 4.

Brick was under contract for 2 more seasons so he didn't have much leverage. He's keeping those two years of salary and then the Jets are giving him a large extension. So Woody doesn't have to cut a check for 30 or 40 million now.

That said, I love the D'brick extension.

Overall we'll be paying a 9.2 mill on average to our franchise LT. To me anything under 10 mill would've sounded good and anything under 9.5 excellent!

They decided to put in a lot of guaranteed money so they could keep the total numbers down and IMO it makes sense becuase D'brick looks like a durable and agile T (not like those 330lbs tackle that wear down badly).

Now let's get to work on Mangold and possibly on Harris.
I think they're making a mistake on waiting 'till 2011 for Harris. next season will be huge for him and as of now he is severely underpaid.

    Go Tanny!

PS I hope they moved some of his 2011 money to 2010... a 12 mill cap number in 2011 would be pretty steep.

We can not franchise Revis during the two buy back years, so we'd have to pay him $5 mill and likely $15 mill for those two years respectively (the franchise tag would be less that $15 mill). We'd use the Franchise tag the year after that, IF forced to. I doubt it comes to that, but if Tanny wants to play hard ball with Revis, he's got him by the balls.

Third buyback? I thought there was only two years we could buy back (years 5 and 6). I also haven't heard anything about not being able to franchise him after that, but I could be wrong....

Using a franchise tag after a 15 mill season is almost impossible... you'd be paying him around 20 mill!

    That's not entirely correct.

There is holdout language that voids the no guarantee clause. It's a little Fuzzy if the void affects the franchise tag ability.

I'd like to offer a tip of my cap to Don Yee.

If you don't know who Don Yee is, that's a good thing. Yee is Ferguson's agent. With the exception of a disputed report (Yee disagreed with the FO's statement regarding the closeness of the impending extension; it turns out the Jets were right: they were close). Yee has kept his name out of the media and quietly worked behind the scenes to get his client signed to a lucrative contract. Job well done, Mr. Yee.

And, to borrow schtick, I'd like to offer a wag of my finger to Jonathan Feinsod. Feinsod has loudly slandered the Jets FO at every opportunity to get his many Jets clients (Baker, Revis, Kendall, Clement, Hobson) signed to... jack shit. Eat a dick, Mr. Feinsod.

Now, darksiders... remember this very quiet, very fair extension the next time you're quick to suck the Feinsod/Keels "The Jets are evil!" teat. Mike Tannenbaum has done good business with good businessmen and no business with poor businessmen.

Regardless of reports to the contrary, look for David Harris to receive the next offer. Harris has been the most professional out of any of the "Core Four" and I don't expect that professionalism to go unrewarded. Just a hunch.

Great news - IMO the most important of the main 4 to get signed up.

Right you are, gentlemen. My mistake.

In that case, well done Mr. Blank. Go fuck yourself, Yee.

Today was like one of those fly dreams
The Jets still one of the best teams
Revis still trying to commit murder
But Dbrick can now afford a fatburger
even saw the lights of the goodyear Blimp
and it read Mike T's a pimp..

Glad as hell but no throwin up
Half way home the pager still blowin up
pulled a robbery but didn't use an AK
I gotta say Mike T had a good day
