FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUCK YES! This topic has popped up a couple times in some other threads. I am way excited about this. As a Zombie Aficionado, and a huge fan of this comic, I think AMC is the only channel -- other than an HBO/Showtime -- that can make this adaptation work right. Hellz Yeah!
The Walking Dead Zombies are definitely Romero style. That's what I love about them. And remember all, 28 Days/Months Later are NOT zombie movies.
I'll be excited for this. I find anything with zombies to be interesting- besides remakes of the older zombie movies.
It's not directly linked to Romero, or his canon, but the zombies themselves are based on Romero's zombies. Really they are even more classic, because Romero has begun kind of evolving his zombies to have some intelligence. They are slow, with no intelligence. They are dead.
This show is going to be fucking incredibly - I can't wait until October. Here are some pictures that were leaked early in the week:

I think Darabont will do a great job with this, but he's added a few new characters that might be disappointing. ...especially "T-Dogg". I don't know if that's supposed to be Tyreese or just some kind of side character. SPOILERS He's definitely not going to be one of the prisoners at the "fort", because Darabont said they won't get there until the second season.
Man, I hope they design this series for a long run. It is imperative that they hire someone with Webster's disease to play Carl. This story is not going to work later on if Carl passes puberty. *********SPOILER********* Gary Oldman as The Governor. And re-write his death, please.
looks pretty cool. while off topic of this particular project ( and perhaps a bit old by now ), but in regards to zombies, yes the perpetuates the meme argument - but it looks cool so whatever. here's a trailer i hope gets greenlit: info here
Great shows, but right now "American Movie Classics" does as much for Movies as "Music Television" does for music. That being said, this looks fucking awesome.
No, my bad. Poor phrasing- Oldman is the guy I'd love to see as The Governor. Sorry, that was poorly stated. Didn't mean to get anyone's hopes up. :shit:
Leon? Just watched it. It's amazing when a character is undeniably, irredeemably evil and he's still the most likeable character in the movie.
Every time I see Oldman, I think of this scene:
