It's been news for a while and Sanchez himself just posted it on twitter... but he didn't say who's going to train with him. Mark Sanchez 06/22/2010 04:37 PM ET A group of Jets coming to CA this summer to wrkout b4 our official training camp in Aug. I hope Braylon Edwards goes... he needs as many reps as he can with Mark. Anyone has infos?
It's been reported a lot that he was going to invite all of the receivers over to his place to work on routes and chemistry.
It's probably Edwards, Cotchery, Holmes, Brad Smith, Clowney, Keller, and maybe Woodhead. Doubt he has all the practice squad guys coming.
This is what I love about Sanchez, it started last year when he got all of the rookie offensive players together the day before mini-camp to study the play book. You think this would be common, but you just do not hear many QB's organizing activities like this. Usually it is limited to the go-to players... This kid is a leader and hopefully his great work ethic pays off big for us!
Maybe the guys who were around last year like Davis and Henry... I'm really rooting for Davis to make the team as our 6th WR so I hope he gets this chance. PS You guys noticed on nyjets.com Woodhead is listed as a RB again? maybe the slot WR experiment has come to an end...
I think Pennington was one of the first guys to really start doing this - having breakout sessions with the receiving core and getting on the same page. We can only hope Sanchez has Penny's work ethic and football head, we already know he's got a way better deep ball.
This remark is almost as bad as the poster that thinks Kyle Wilson and Vlad the Impaler will be cut because they haven't signed yet. Replace Woodhead with Joe McKnight, and you're on to something.
I'm not sure I'm sad about this... Just because he's small people think he's shifty but that's not the case. He runs like a power back but he doesn't have the body to do it... to play in the slot you have to be agile and quick on your feet, I'm not sure he is. Anyways, I'm pretty sure he'll be on the PS again this year.
