This is the dumbest shit I've ever read. He wasn't signed to be the Tomlinson of old. He was signed to be the guy he is now.
That's a bit unfair. He was by far the best offensive player in the playoffs and his injury was magnified because the 31 year old RB next to him did squat.
He's definitely not as quick as he used to be but he's still strong for his size and has great vision. He will have enough time behind the line with us, so he'll be solid.
No its not. The guy was unable to finish the biggest game of his career. That is a significant concern.
As a runningback two things matter: your performance and your availability. There's no question that Shonn Greene can handle the first part and there's also no question that there's a huge question hanging over him and the Jets on the second. What the Jets need behind him next season are a couple of guys who might be able to step in and replace his performance at an acceptable level if his tendency towards injuries continues. It's ok if the two guys behind him do this as a package. LT unfortunately is not capable of being in that two guy group who might be able to replace Greene if worst comes to worst. For the Jets to have wasted a roster spot on him is really, really bad when you look at the realities they face for 2010. Yes, Leon Washington got hurt and yes Thomas Jones is old, but both of them were quite capable of handling half the load next season if it came down to that. LT is not. That's the problem. The Jets need another potential power back behind Greene who might be able to play that role if he gets hurt. What they have instead of Washington is Joe McKnight who might be able to fill that role. What they have instead of TJ is LT who absolutely cannot.
Let's be honest here. If Shonn Greene goes down, it doesn't matter who's back there. LT or TJ. Neither of them would carry us to the super bowl on their own. We all saw TJ melt down in the playoffs last year. If Greene goes down, this becomes the Sanchez show. LT is more fit to play in such a system than TJ.
Ya. But my questions are can he do it for an entire season, and possible post season run? Thats a lot different, and is no easy assumption...
