AHHHH so now everyone is agreeing with me that this guy is a scumbag and we need to trade him. Whats his trade value? maybe 2 first round picks? Lets get rid of him.
This is just as bad as the people saying fuck him and trade him. Everyone really needs to take a deep breath and stop getting so worked up over everything he says. He saw what happened to Leon last year and he is scared of having the same thing happen to him. He is gonna continue to make his displeasure with his contract known and he is going to continue to work hard in practice to keep his value as high as it currently is. Revis is in a bad spot because the Jets really don't need to give him anything this year and he still needs to give it his all because he won't be getting a big contract from anyone if he mails it in this year, not to mention that these guys all separate what happens with management and what they do on the field, something most fans seem to be having a very hard time with.
If the Jets started this then they made a huge mistake. The person who opens negotiations is always at a disadvantage because they have clearly indicated they are interested in a deal. They often get taken advantage of as a result and rarely come out ahead in the deal that is eventually struck. I don't know that the Jets actually did this. I tried to track the statements made by Tannenbaum and got no actual confirmation from them that he'd conclusively decided to open contract negotiations with Revis this spring. Rex Ryan did a lot of talking also and it's possible that I missed something here but I don't think the Jets publicly re-opened the Revis contract until after he'd made the request. Really this entire process should have been behind closed doors. The fan base is inflamed now and Revis is on the edge of making this a real headache and none of the above was necessary given the Jets had Revis under contract for 3 more years.
Well I don't like his attitude. No other team will pay him the money he wants so why does he expect the Jets to? We aren't going to pay him and thats the bottom line. We need to pay Mangold, Harris, and whoever else that are just as important as Revis. As far as i'm concerned lets trade him and watch him try to pull this shit some where else. cuz any other team would just say screw you, your not getting the money.
No need to call him names. He is just trying to get paid. Over the top, Yes, but he is not a "scumbag" as some have put it. It is funny how fast a fanbase will turn on a player though. Or sad.......
I'm surprised to see so many fans turning on Revis. The Jets told him that they would get him a new contract, and as of now they haven't. The Jets have repeatedly referred to him as the best cornerback in football, and now they don't want to pay him the top salary at his position. I can understand thinking that it would be imprudent for the Jets to give Revis Asomugha money, but I don't understand labeling the guy as a "douche" because he wants to get paid.
The reasoning why i'm turning on him is because if Jason Taylor can take a small contract just for the love he has for the game of Football and realizes how great and fortunate he is to play in the NFL then Revis can to. Revis reminds me of this baseball player that I remember was offered a decent contract, wanted more money, and ended up getting injured and ended up working a minimum wage job instead he could have been making millions but he was greedy. Karma is a bitch and its going to come back and haunt Revis.
everyone needs to STFU. this deal will get done eventually. revis is way too important to the jets. CB may not be as important of a position to other teams but it's vital to the way the jets play defense. rex would have to change the way he plays defense without him.
If the Jets started this then they deserve the situation that is developing. If they said he should be the best paid CB in football then they have no gripe when he demands that kind of money. I don't believe they actually did this. I think they responded to other people's questions in a way that may have lead Revis to believe that's what they said and that's a real problem right now. Go look at the interviews with Tannenbaum and Ryan and read all the questions and answers. The headlines tend to say: "Tannenbaum says Revis should be highest paid CB" but if you look at the interviews themselves that headline is never in any single question, it's more like the writer involved picked little pieces out and put them together or took something completely out of context like "when we sign the next contract with Darrelle he's probably going to be the highest paid cornerback, he certainly deserves that."
That is such a bad comparison. One is a vet on his last legs just looking to win a championship in the twilight of his career. The other is young player looking for what will probably be his one big pay day in the league. If we are gonna compare anything to Jason Taylor I would compare the fan reactions to both situations about the same. When news of Taylor to the Jets first hit there was a ton of emotional responses with very little intelligent thought. The same thing is going on right now.
I wouldn't say he is a scumbag because he likes the smell of $$, who doesn't? I will say I think he should stop whining like a bitch just because of Aso's deal.
This post is so terrible. I laugh at fans that are so quick to throw away elite talent during contract negotiations. I'd trade you for raiderjeaux. He at least had entertainment value.
Tough situation all around. I understand both sides. Get rid of him and the defense drops significantly. Sign him for his asking price and you are putting the signing of several other guys in jeopardy. I'll have to admit what he did today was a pussy move, but it certainly does put pressure on the front office. Either way, it is getting old quickly. I say sign him and pray for another year of no salary cap.
Speaking of him, I think the Raiders are good enough for him to make a comeback this year. I'd rather listen to his retardation than this "get rid of Revis" shit.
NOOOO YOUR RIGHT. Lets just give him the ridiculous money, then pay all the other guys. And then when the NFL puts the cap back on in 2011, we will be screwed for many years. You just don't seem to get it. Giving Revis the money will not allow us to sign or do anything for many years if a Cap is put back on. We will be kind of locked up, and we won't be able to improve our team. So your post is the terrible one because you don't realize the many Consequences their are if we give Revis the money. And Obviously Tannenbaum realizes this to, thats the reason he hasn't paid Revis yet, and he probably has no intentions to either.
worst comparison i have ever seen. two completely different situations, no one wanted JT. errrbody wants darrelle, but not at 16 million
